Do get in touch with Clare if you are interested or pass it on to friends.
Thanks

Subject: Looking for an agroecological tenant

Dear Ben

My husband and his siblings have inherited a family farm in Cornwall and I am very keen to do everything I can to help them find a tenant for the the farm that would move it to agroecological management. It was a conventional dairy farm for many years. It has however had little input or care over the last few years. My ideal scenario would be to rent the farmhouse with the land and I would be extremely interested in supporting a farmer who would like to rent both together.

I’m attaching the tender for the holding. This tender is in a standard “conventional” format but we as a family are very much up for discussing and developing a structure that works for us all so we would really like to hear from anyone with an interest.

As you will see, the local agent which the family are using wants to push for a Michelmas start which obviously would be great from our point of view. However, I am very conscious that this is a very short timeline, and for people who might be in other tenancies at the moment completely undoable. However, this is very much negotiable for the right tenant, so I would really encourage anyone interested to get in touch with me or apply anyway and we can discuss further what would work. We would also consider other options and arrangements for farming the land if it meant it could be used agroecologically including for instance, some sort of sharing of the site amongst multiple tenants (even though the tender currently is very explicit about sharing the land because we have been burnt by unauthorised sub-letting in the past).Similarily, we might be able to consider some sort of early option of extending the tenancy if the 10 year length is a problem for a would be tenant. The point I really want to make is that we are up for considering any proposal as long as it is firmly rooted in agroecology, localised supply chains and community engagement.

Many thanks for your help with this.
