Hello All.  New to the group and Fusion Analytics so I am still learning.

It would be nice if there was a way to purge all data and start fresh without deleting the applications, collectors, database and recreating everything.  Is this something that is not technically feasible?  It is frustrating when first starting with Fusion Analytics to have to keep cleaning it up if you do not have Fusion Reactor sending the correct data.  I suppose this is a feature request wrapped in a why is this not possible.  Thanks.

Stephen, while you await an answer from the FA engineers, I’m wondering if you might clarify what it is that you need to “purge” in the case you describe where “you do not have Fusion Reactor sending the correct data”? What’s incorrect about the data? And what leads you to feel it needs to be purged? That may help us understand what seems to you to be a missing feature.

That said, perhaps the FA folks may immediately connect with what you’re asking and have an answer even before you might reply. I just don’t see the connection as readily myself, and perhaps they may not also. :-)

Thanks for the reply Charlie.  Honestly what I was really looking for was a method to just reset the data for FA without deleting all of the configuration that I have already done. Having run through it a few times now using this thread " Reset FA Topic " it seems like I should be able to turn off FR uploads and stop all applications and remove the database and have it recreated for me empty then just go into the application and "modify" (FADC and FADS) to have the tables created again and then restart the collectors and application.  It seems like that would work to "purge" all of the data that had already been uploaded.  I am trying to avoid having to remove all of the collectors and applications that I had already created.

Thanks again for the reply.

Yep, that would seem a reasonable approach. But I do hope that an engineer may get a chance to chime in, in case there may be some better way, or at least to confirm that this is indeed the best way. :-)

Hi Stephen,

You can configure the amount of data that is stored in the database in the configuration of your FADC application. This is described in section
FusionAnalytics DB Data Management in the online documentation.

However, you cannot configure it in a way to delete all metric data. The minimum data volume to keep is one day of low and hires data. The deletion is than handled by the 'Data Volume Management' job (see Data Management).

If you want to simply remove all metric data but keep your configuration (e.g. DataCollectors) you have to delete the data directly from the belonging tables in the database. The tables are

for the hires data
'REALTIMESTATS', 'DBPOOLSTATS', 'HITCOUNTSTATS', 'RESOURCE', 'LOGLINES','CRASHPROTECTION', 'MEMORY', 'MEMORYSUMMARY', 'CPUTHREAD'

for the quantized data
DBPOOLSTATS_Q', 'HITCOUNTSTATS_Q', 'MEMORYSUMMARY_Q','MEMORY_Q', 'REALTIMESTATS_Q', 'RESOURCE_Q'

for the requests
'REQUEST_STATUS', 'REQUEST_AMF', 'REQUEST_PARAM' and 'REQUEST_URL'

If you have a look into the '\FusionAnalytics\Server\data\fadc\Applications\<your app name>\manageDataVolume.groovy' script (which is executed when the Data Volume Management' job runs) you can see more details about this.

I have unwrapped your 'feature request' into our JIRA system so that it can become a new feature potentially. Thank you for this.

Bernd
