Hi,

I'm evaluating Fuse, instead of using Geronimo or even Virgo for corporate deployments. So far I'm sold. Any major issues or problems I should be aware of?

The Management console is pretty great, but as it stands, I don't see how to view logs from client containers without ssh'ing to them. Am I mistaken? There are a couple of minor monitoring things we'd like to do, and I'd like to avoid having to use JBoss On. Is the console extendable via plugins? Or is that functionality coming?

One more thing. I saw a new feature (issue) opened for Puppet/Chef plugins. Has there been any movement on that? It'd be really great to have that level of IT management.

Regards,
Marcos

Hi Marco,

We are pretty close in releasing Fabric 7.2 (early April) as part of the JBoss Fuse release, which covers all the known major issues. I'd definitely favor on of the 7.2.0 betas over previous releases for the evaluation process.

We have added a fabric plugin for hawtio[1] (and will eventually have hawtio replace the existing console). Hawtio, does support plugins and will cover most of the things you mentioned.

The puppet/chef support is something that it hasn't been scheduled yet, but its definitely something that we would like to add in the near future.

excellent. thank you. i will check all that out. last questions...

will i have to worry about licensing as this becomes jboss fuse? we're deploying dozens of servers. we dont mind paying for support, just don't want to have to from the get go.

will a fully functional fabric stay open source?

Red Hat has a strict policy on keeping everything open source. So Fuse Fabric will remain fully open source.
The Fuse Management console which was not openly available in previous releases has been opensourced and already made available at github under the fabric project.

The JBoss Fuse product, will be licensed under ASL 2.0.
