Texas’ Republican Governor Greg Abbott has escalated anti-immigrant measures with a cruel border barrier in the Rio Grande made of razor wire under the water’s surface and a huge system of wrecking ball-sized buoys with serrated metal plates to block people
from entering the US.
Migrants, including young children have been ensnared and slashed by the razor wire, a woman stuck in the wire had a miscarriage, and recently several people have been discovered dead and stuck on the buoys.
Greg Abbott is using a false narrative of mass illegal migration to justify his cruel, racist, and dystopian immigration policy.

“What Texas is doing right now is flagrantly illegal,” says David Donatti, an attorney for the Texas American Civil Liberties Union. In addition to the plain sadism, Texas is violating local laws, federal laws and environmental regulations, and violating
treaties with Mexico.
Border officers are being instructed to withhold water in extreme heat and even push kids back into the water to go to Mexico.
Let’s be clear. The Texas Governor is knowingly injuring and maiming migrants seeking asylum in the United States with razor wire and drowning devices.
No person should be treated like this. Illegal immigration should not be a death sentence.
