🚨 URGENT CALL TO ACTION: STOP H.R. 32 & H.R. 35! 🚨

Two dangerous bills currently under consideration in the U.S. House of Representatives threaten the safety and well-being of immigrant communities and the cities that protect them. These bills are direct attacks on sanctuary jurisdictions, aiming to criminalize immigrants, penalize local governments, and defund critical community resources.

🚧 What’s at Stake?

⚠️ H.R. 35 Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act

This bill introduces harsh criminal and immigration penalties for individuals who attempt to flee from federal officers while driving within 100 miles of the U.S. border. Under this legislation:

Individuals could face imprisonment and heavy fines.

If the pursuit results in serious injury or death, penalties become even more severe.

Non-citizens convicted under this law would be deemed inadmissible and deportable, tearing families apart.

Despite strong opposition, H.R. 35 has already passed with support from 50 Democrats—including Illinois Representatives Budzinski and Sorensen. This is a dangerous expansion of federal enforcement powers that will lead to racial profiling, wrongful detentions, and harm to border communities.

⚠️ H.R. 32 No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act

This bill goes even further—stripping critical federal funding from cities and states that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. If passed, H.R. 32 would:

Withhold federal funds from sanctuary jurisdictions, cutting off money for food, shelter, healthcare, legal aid, and transportation for immigrants.

Punish local governments that provide essential services to people regardless of status.

Hurt all community members by defunding public programs that benefit entire cities, not just immigrants.

Threaten public safety by discouraging immigrants from reporting crimes out of fear of deportation.

This bill is designed to coerce cities into abandoning their commitments to human rights by holding federal funding hostage. It’s an anti-immigrant power grab that will devastate local economies, dismantle protections for the most vulnerable, and put millions at risk.

📢 HOW YOU CAN FIGHT BACK

The House could vote on H.R. 32 as soon as the week of February 26—or it may be pushed to March 4. We must act now!

🛑 Tell your U.S. Representative to OPPOSE H.R. 32!

📞 Call and email your representative’s office—demand they vote NO on H.R. 32 and stand against anti-immigrant legislation.

📢 Hold Reps. Budzinski and Sorensen accountable for voting YES on H.R. 35—tell them to support our communities, not betray them.

📌 Stay informed and mobilized—follow advocacy organizations, attend community meetings, and spread the word.
