Why is it ok for Israel to Occupy Palestine and not Russia Ukraine? Both violate Geneva Accords.

Subject: Opportunity to Assist a Ukrainian Refugee Family

Peggy and I had the opportunity to attend a zoom meeting arranged by HIAS, a long-standing non-profit that provides humanitarian aid and assistance to refugees.  HIAS used to stand for Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, but now they just go by HIAS https://hias.org/

This particular meeting was to see if FUSD wants to partner with Rodef Shalom to form a Welcome Circle to help a newly arrived Ukranian family.  HIAS Welcome Circles are typically comprised of five to eight volunteers who assist newcomers over a six-month period with the goal of helping them integrate into their new community and move toward self-sufficiency. Circle members help newcomers set up new homes, access language classes, find jobs, access health care and other benefits, register their children for school, and so much more.

Just emailing you as a heads up as I’d like to put something in First Announce next week to see if there is interest and I didn’t want to surprise anyone in leadership (Kathy, you’re on this as someone who was very involved with Sanctuary, although this would not require anyone to stay in our building).  Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Julie
