Some information about the Furry Blue mixte prototypes:
The bikes are handmade in the USA.
Price TBD, somewhere around $1,100 - $1,300 for frame and fork.
These are versatile road bikes with what might be called a "sport
touring geometry" done in a mixte style - they are not laid back beach
cruisers.
While a mixte might appeal especially to women, primarily the mixte
design suits anyone who likes a bit more standover clearance and who
also likes the particular aesthetics of a mixte. I've tested ridden
the prototype and can honestly say it's a great riding road bike and I
think it rides as well or better than a traditional "diamond-style"
frame.
Tentative Geometry:
700C wheels
for size medium: 73 head angle, 72.5 seat angle, 55 cm seat tube - for
riders about 5' 7" to 5' 10"
for size medium small: 72 head angle, 72.5 seat angle, 49.5 cm seat
tube - for riders about 5' 2" to 5' 6"
both have about 76 mm drop, 600 mm front center, and 440 mm
chainstays
Top tube lengths are slightly on the long side for drop handlebars,
depending on your body proportions, the frame is probably best used
with swept-back handlebars (e.g.,Nitto "Albatross" or "North Road"
type bars).
I've spec'd clearance for 32C plus fenders, likely there's clearance
for about 38mm without fenders.
As far as fork and front-end geometry, the "standard" fork is intended
for a trail around 60 mm or so. It would be possible to offer a
custom fork for those who prefer lower-trail.
