Hello list!
I installed new grub2 (grub-1.97.1-r2) and everything working fine.Previously I had a kernel panics after a fresh funtoo install, now it all fixed.
I modified /etc/conf.d/grub modified my partition to /dev/sda3 and grub found my 2 kernels bzImage (default) and bzImage-custom.Also dual boot
with win2k8 working (script /etc/grub.d/11_windows).
I noticed that grub-install /dev/sdX and grub-update (after changes in /etc/conf.d/grub) takes significant amount of time (around 30-40 seconds) but
that's the only thing I've found so far.Boot is seems faster than lilo.Great work by Daniel, thanks.

I tried the new r2 version and I prefer the r1 version.

The r1 version works perfectly out-of-the-box™ for my particular
setup.

Also I have a "no X" softlevel runlevel (just in case) - though I
never needed to use it. :)
The r1 version required an /etc/grub.d/40_custom menuentry to works-
for-me™

The r2 version is straight away a little more demanding - for now, I
suppose.
When I added my 2 menuentries in /etc/conf.d/grub which is fine, grub
defaults to the no X one.
I suppose that I could have changed the order of the menuentries, but
my grub menu would then be upside down.

I know that this is real nit-picking, but it was enough to compel me
to downgrade back to the r1 version, which I am very happy with.

Please understand that I'm not complaining, just offering my feedback,
as requested. :)
