Damro’s opens Rs 12.5 billion Marino Mall and hotel in Colombo

Damro Group opened the 12.5 billion rupee Marino Mall and Beach Hotel in Colombo 03, adding 289 star-class rooms to Colombo’s hotel inventory on Monday. “We have invested over Rs 12.5 billion to build and open this hotel with 289 rooms including 02 suites,” Damitha Ramanayake, chairman and founder of Damro Group said. “In addition it will also consist of 04 floors of Mall space.”
The Mall has 04 floors of retails stores. In addition, the 12-storeyed building with a 03 basement car park that could park 350 vehicles also has 02 large conference facilities which could accommodate over 1,000 guests. The Marino Beach Hotel, built similar to Marina Bay Sands in Singapore also has Sri Lanka’s largest rooftop infinity swimming pool and a large garden and entertainment area. It’s also the first hotel project to have electronic card entry system to the roof top area. Angsana Spa and a night club too would be introduced soon to Marino Beach Colombo.
Marino Mall consists 150,000 square feet of shopping area and has several novel tech features such as ‘Marino Mall 9D Cinema’ Virtual Reality Games and other adventure game areas and a climbing wall as well.


Samantha Ratnayaka Best General Manager in Hospitality at Sri Lanka Best Employer Brand Awards 2018

Fairway Colombo’s Saman Perera adjudged Best General Manager for Colombo region

Saman Perera, the general manager of Fairway Colombo was adjudged by the CMO Asia Awards 2018 as the Best General Manager in the Colombo region from a selection of Sri Lanka’s best general managers in the hospitality segment at their recently-concluded award ceremony. This recognition seeks to identify and celebrate outstanding brand building and marketing talent among deserving high performers in Sri Lanka. This is an independent brand recognition initiative to recognise those individuals who have achieved extraordinary success from innovative and effective people management and customer satisfaction practices in the country. Saman Perera, who won Best GM for the Colombo Region award, has over 18 years of experience in the hotel management industry, specialising in sales and marketing management. He is a graduate of Ceylon Hotel School and the School of Tourism with a specialisation in food and beverage operations. He began his career as a trainee receptionist at the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya. Saman consistently rose up the corporate ladder, working for blue chip brands such as the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, The Kingsbury Colombo and a multitude of other hotel chains; gaining experience in positions such as head of sales, assistant director of sales & marketing, area director of sales & marketing.  

Currently Saman works in the capacity of general manager for Fairway Colombo, which is known for its dynamic growth within a very short time frame in the city hotel segment and continues to pave its way as a hallmark in central Colombo. He has also been instrumental in establishing Colombo’s Hospital Street as a much sought after location for evening activities that attract locals and foreigners alike.
