My problem is whenever I am playing a game or I am on netflix I randomly get disconnected from xbox live. I can instantly reconnect to xbox live if I choose to, and if I dashboard I automatically sign back into xbox live sometimes.
This is really frustrating because I always watch netflix with my girl and it disconnects several times when watching a show or movie and I have to exit netflix and re-enter to get it working again. And even more frustrating when playing online such as GTA, where it wont save my progress until my last save, and kicks me back into singleplayer.
Does ANYONE have any solutions, or advice. Microsoft is killing me. And some side information, my account had some problems a month or two ago where I was getting an error code when trying to sign online, and couldnt connect to xbox live, EVEN though I tested my connection.
Another thing that could be the case is your xbox itself, if you never have problems with your desktop/laptop while connected to your router it could be your xbox. You might have a broken receiver and/or port on the xbox. Try to invite a friend with his xbox to see if the problem occurs when you're streaming on his console.
Would certainly say it is a router/internet issue. Live will boot you if you drop connectivity for any period of time (which will boot you from Netflix as well instead of just "buffering" like it would do on a Roku etc) which is one of the few things that irritates me about the gold paywall for streaming services.
Yeah. I would say wire if you can, if not you could look at a stronger router or a wifi repeater (basically picks up your wifi signal and re-broadcasts it). But neither of those will help if its just the scale of how much it's being used at he same time. For that you basically need to pay more to your provider for more Mbps.
My wife's 360 slim was doing the same thing , but My old one didn't have any of the same problems, so I knew it wasn't my router or modem. Ran the xbox live test , it would say couldn't get ip from router, BS because I use a static ip.Started to look at her network settings were changing from the static addresses given to automatic, put it back to static. Router restart over and over , check every setting on router wasn't the problem. check what was on the xbox Hard drive. Notice a couple odd things one was two netflix app one without the netflix icon. That one had A old title update and account credentials, delete both and didn't have to redownload or re enter and thing for netflix to work. The second thing was microsoft system feedback data , delete that also . This has fixed the xbox live disconnecting issue for me. Also trying clear system cache was done on it.
The Archer AX3000 has vastly improved my WiFi coverage in my home. I initially bought this because it can handle a lot of connections. I simultaneously run 5 phones, 1 Smart TV, 2 iPads, 1 Desktop (wired), 1 Xbox One, and 2 Xbox 360 consoles in my home network. I have 200MB service coming from a Spectrum E31U2V1 Modem.
But the Xbox 360 in my room is 15-20 Feet away from the router and drops connection frequently. I've had it set to defaults and I thought it was the wireless adapter in the Xbox and replaced it. Same issues. The connection drops because even with IP Reservation and binding it with the XBOX MAC Address, it assigns a 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.155.40 IP address to it, causing the connection to Xbox Live/Netflix to drop. I have to reboot the Xbox and the Router. Resetting the Xbox alone doesn't work since it can't see my network..
I don't think it's the Xbox at fault since the one closest to the router works fine. But even with all those new technologies in this router, it has issues with older wireless N devices at any distance over 10 ft...
I hope there is a firmware update to address legacy devices. I've had the same problem with a Linksys AC1600, they both had intel SoCs. So it must be an Intel issue. I might have to try an AX router with Qualcomm chip that has 5 cores....
I have used every troubleshoot that Xbox provided. I can stay online longer but the connection drops. I am aware that wired is better and reliable, but I bought this device to stay wireless. Thanks again.
The Xbox One and 1 Xbox 360 are located in my living room as the AX3000, about 8 ft from it. They don't exhibit the same connection loss. They're are not on at the same time. Doing as you asked I did notice that when the Xbox One is in Standby mode (still connected to the network) it does interfere with the Xbox 360 in my living room. This was not an issue with my older router.
The Xbox 360 in my room does experience intermittent connection loss from Xbox Live, whether the Xbox One is in Standby mode or not. If i power cycle and reboot the router and my Xbox 360; I can watch Netflix for a good 4 hours with no problems.
Both Xbox 360s connect to 2.4Ghz band due to it being better for distance. My other Xbox One is on the 5ghz band. The Xbox One supports the newer AC standard so it doesn't have problems connecting or maintaining a connection. The Xbox 360 is on the older Wireless N standard has the issue. I understand the router is compatible will all standards, but it doesn't work on older devices. At this point I'm not sure if I should replace the router with a non-intel SoC or use my old Belkin router as an AP just for this console. Thanks.
You could swap the Xbox locations to see if it is a distance issue. If the issue follows the Xbox then you know it is something with the wireless card in the system. If the swapped Xbox now has connection issues I would look at either running an Ethernet cable or having another device grab the Wi-Fi like an extender and run an Ethernet cable from it to the Xbox.
After using a Dual Band WiFi extender with an Ethernet connection, the Xbox 360 in my room is working. It doesn't loose connection. The Linksys RE6400 I'm using has a stable connection with the AX3000.
I've a similar issue. My Xbox 360 connected and worked fine with one active router. When I add a second deco device, Xbox gets an IP address of 169.* and doesn't connect to internet. Multiple restarts of Xbox, both deco routers didn't solve the problem. I disconnected the WiFi in Xbox settings and tried to reconnect. That is when Xbox threw a warning that multiple networks with same name exist and to name them uniquely. I turned off 1 deco device, the warning went away and Xbox connected to internet. I'm now turning off one deco device whenever I'm using Xbox 360.
I have that issue on my Xbox One when it's in Energy Saving mode or I happen to restart the system. It gets a 0.0.0.0 or 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP and cannot connect when IP settings on the Xbox is set to Automatic. I have to disable the wireless connection and reconnect to the AX3000. That usually fixes the issue. The other fix, would be to assign a Static IP on the Xbox in order to connect to the router and switch back to Automatic. Since then I just leave my Xbox One in Standby Mode to avoid connectivity issues. The connection problem is from the router not being able to communicate with the devices....those are my workarounds. Still no new firmware on this AX3000.
Having issues with my X Box One S connecting to X Box Live. All services are up and running; XB network settings showed connected to Internet, but cannot connect to XB Live Service. Per Microsoft, the port I need is 3074 plus the following:
I cannot find which ports are open on the Orbi router, so I cannot tell if they are open or not. Further, I have assigned static IPs to both the wired and wireless MAC addresses; so should I port-forward these ports? (When I tried setting up 3074 was told it was used by other services) This issue occurs both wired and wireless on the XB.
I would hold in the power button until it turns off. Then do a full reboot of the ISP modem and Orbi router. After it's all back to ready, power ON the xbox and check IP address and NAT status. IT should be OPEN in network settings an in a game.
Modem Combo Units:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem leaving it in router mode and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. -do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and =H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
I was having issues with Xbox live as well as streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime through the Xbox one. Disabling Port Scan and DoS protection fixed the issue for me. Log into the router settings through , then access Advanced->Setup->WAN Setup and check the box for "Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection".
If I happen to put in an Xbox-360 game that I haven't played for over 2 weeks or so, I always get an update to the game. It disconnects me from live and restarts (Which I despise because it never reconnects to my group chat after).
I have played at LAN parties and my Xbox seems to be the only one in the group updating the games. I update games so frequently that it's getting on my nerves and I know these game developers are not releasing new updates as frequent as I'm updating. Is there a memory cache deletion option I need to change in the Xbox settings?
Hey Tricky, I don't think this is much of an answer, but screw it, here it is anyway. As I said, I cleared my system cache, and was immediately presented with a new update for a game that definitely didn't actually need one. Since then, though, updates have become less and less frequent, until finally, it seems that the only games and applications that update now are the ones that definitely DO need it, like games that I haven't played on my system yet, or updates to applications like Netflix and ESPN. If your problem is still persisting after the system cache has been cleared, just let me know, and I'll try to think of what else I may have done differently, because whatever was done differently, it made my Xbox stop hating me. lol
