The film is based on Vātsyāyana's Kama Sutra, an ancient Indian text in Sanskrit literature widely considered to be the noted work on human sexual behavior, and is set in the backdrop of the real historical milieu. It was produced under the house of RPPL and presented by G J Entertainments. The story was written by the director. The film was co-produced and designed by Sohan Roy, and George John is the executive producer.
