Hey y'all,

Boi, Noah, and I met today to discuss past present and horizons.
Below I detail some of these ideas so that we can move forward from
the same page. Please correct dates as they may have been ill-
recorded in my sleep-deprived brain! :)

1. Workshops.
FH King October 2 and 16.

Yes, yes! Weekends are best for me!

I talked to two folks at the Madison Area Community Land Trust Food Forest planting today that are interested! So let me know what information I can pass forward!

Heya quick-draw!!! :) That's awesome! I accidentally sent that
before adding the following...

Workshops continued... so the FH King workshops will likely be limited
to 15-20 folks, with mixed instructional and hands-on components both
days. Will be provided small budget. Noah, a doc link to your lovely
outline would be great riiiight here... :)

Glacial Drumlin Middle School (where mi madre teaches) has a fungus
unit next month as well. Myself, and potentially Noah, and Boi (speak
up other interested folks) have been invited to present/work with
kiddies in one and maybe more grades. I've been a guest there before,
and even with the short time slot we could confer plenty. More
details next week.

IDEAS for workshops. Of course I think it would be great to host at
least one more workshop w guild/local folks before and after heading
to the coast. Early November, perhaps. The more we present this
material, the better, improving it as we go. That said, the idea to
present in several cities along the route south seems like a very
logical and beneficial approach. This will depend on interest
expressed in these potential places, monies, time-frames, and what the
needs are of folks in NOLA (our priority one). Sir pond-skipper
Brian, any word on this? Lookin at post-Thanksgiving and pre-
Christmas as our window for travel.

ZINE the mad zine-fest is Oct 2, that is the deadline to have the zine
compiled. Boi and Noah have been working on articles, which would be
great to see posted here for co-editing (a la Grassroutes Caravan
Manual). Zine will be great to have on-hand at all times for
workshops and new folks who get all piqued by our elevator
speeches. ...Elevator's peaches?... Illustrations welcome. I will
be doing a few as well as editing, potentially writing an article as
needed. Will included more nuts and bolts for low-cost DIY techniques
as well a good column or two for our awe-inducing, heart-beat
accelerating, synaptic fire-stoking, poetic and metaphorical mycelial
meanderings.

LAB boy did we scrape! Loose paint is off, though there is still a
swath of tenacious flakes embedded in the bricks. Thinking: bleach
it, paint it, move forward. Expert opinions? Necessary to apply
paint-thinner??? Dehumidification in process. Noah will be looking
into flow-hood designs shortly, I'll be talking with my Dad who
usually has good input on such things. Several people I've spoken
with want to come see the lab and help out, folks from the guild and
beyond, so sooner the better! Tours=learning/teaching opportunities
for us too, and could mean more mycollaborators. hehe :)

MATERIALS North American Mycological Association offers kits for
teaching kids about mushrooms. 50 bucks to rent em, I'm looking more
into this. Be good to get our hands on those in order to avoid wheel-
reinventing and to further our education on sharing this with all ages
and abilities. We are going to need posters, hand-outs, links, toys,
documentation for workshops! Many already made and in the making.
Straw for projects, this connection in Stoughton sounds promising, and
I'm pretty sure it won't all go during tomorrow's pickup.

OTHER COOL STUFF I attended a day-long workshop on thursday called
ABCs of (artist) residencies up on the Oneida reservation. Clare
Norell et al recommended it and it was definitely worth the trip.
Though it was geared towards addressing and enabling "Teaching
Artists", what was most emphasized was arts integration. Art was
framed as an interdisciplinary tool for creating creative, thinking,
imaginative individuals in all fields and passions. Besides getting
good feedback on the myco project (which I presented briefly in a
break-out session), I left with solid materials/templates/
considerations/resources on approaching schools and getting such
projects moving and healthy, replicable, memorable, functional, and
self-sustaining. It was interesting to me because of my "art
experience", and I think it will serve as a great set of tools and
considerations for this endeavor.

Props to Boi and Noah for all their research and thoughtfulness! It
was great to catch up today! Thank you for your work and general
awesomeness.

Here's a start! Please add on, I'm sure I will be as the cogs
continue to turn!

LOVE YOUS!

Kelty

Hola Everyone,

Just sending out an update on the workshops, for all to see.
Some descriptions for the upcoming workshop:

Day 1: Saturday, October 16th, 2pm-5pm @ FH King Gardens in Eagle
Heights.
The first day of The Mushrooms Love You Too workshop will be some
information about how mushrooms and people have interacted over
history, their mythological significance and how to hunt them. And we
will take our meandering feet out to the woods and find/identify our
first mushrooms!

Day 2: Saturday, October 23rd, 2pm-5pm @ The Faux-Op, 1151 E. Johnson
St
The second day of this workshop we will turn our focus from the forest
to the future. At our East side home, we will share the basics of low-
tech mushroom cultivation, as well as its potential to save our
decimated planet, and each other. We will plan on a brief tour of our
lab space, as well as walk-throughs of how to innoculate mycelium in
different fashions. This will take us to about 5pm, and four those
interested in staying later, we will be sharing a home-cooked meal and
speak about our future plans in Madison, New Orleans, Detroit and
elsewhere.

If you are interested in coming to either or both of the days, please
call us at 608.259.9795, or email Boi (tintinna...@gmail.com) or
Noah (noah...@riseup.net) to enroll.
The workshops will be donation based, with a suggested donation of $0-
$30. No one will be turned away for a lack of funds.See ya there!!!

Hey,
The last email contained what looks like only a fraction of the contents.  It looks like there are some workshops early in October - on the 2nd and the 16th.  Where and what time are these held?  Happy to have more free time to spend on projects such as this and would love to be involved.
