Thanks to Marc Orbach's efforts we are currently scheduled for the lunch
session on Friday March 18th and this shouldn't need to change unless
there is a serious conflict. This will be sufficiently late in the
meeting that we can make sure it is announced. There will be ~2.5hrs for
talks in this session (12:15PM - 3) which will include boxed lunch so we
can start soon after the morning session.
The next order of business is to gather a slate of people interested in
presenting. Looks like there will probably room for about 6 maybe 7
talks depending on length we want to allot.
A current version of document with ideas of what might be presented is here
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BQeQogOr8jfF0fTW_NTGVlmeialwiRVp_R15yU9DNx0/edit?hl=en&authkey=CPCG1P4M
If you have something you think should be presented now is the time to
get them involved and for the list of topics (and speakers) to be proposed.
I am planning on presenting the first beta release version of our
FungiDB system which encompasses a pan-Fungal genomics view. I am
hopeful that other integrative and clade/species-specific will present
as well.
The talks should be an emphasis on introducing what is possible with
these tools/databases/resources without being a full tutorial on all
parts of the system. Towards the end I hope that we can also have a
short discussion on ho we envision the future construction of resources
that coalesce around comparative and functional genomics data querying.
I propose a format with 15min talks with some time for discussion after
each presentation and then a short (30 min) discussion at the end.
I plan to also document this session and the discussion as part of
building an online list of fungal genome tools and resources we can
disseminate to the community to make it easier for everyone to find out
how to do particular analyses or find particular data. I'm hoping
there will be some volunteers to help document the session as well so we
can collect these lists of resources discussed.
I would like to be able to post (or link to) copies of the slides from
the presentation so that the information here can be shared more broadly
so I am expecting everyone will be amenable to sharing their presentations.
Happy to hear discussion on any of these points if there are opinons.
Should the talk blocks be 20min (12 presentation/8 min for questions)?
We should be working towards finalizing a list of speakers in the next 2
weeks so it is important to speak up sooner about suggestions.
Thanks,
Jason
PS Feel free to pass this information along to those you think who would
be interested in presenting or attending and/or I can add them to the
mailing list if they get in contact.

I won't be able to make the session after all, but there will be several people from AspGD/CGD there, and Martha is happy to give a presentation on the databases.
Cheers,
Gavin
