First off, guys, I recommend having your resume uploaded to Monster & available in search results for employers! I have gotten SO MANY phonecalls from recruiters who saw me online. Some were bad fits & none have resulted in actual job offers (yet), but it doesn't necessitate any extra work on your part, and it is nice having them calling you for once rather than vice versa.
Secondly, AUUUGH. Tomorrow morning I'm interviewing for the editorial assistant position that I really want, but I just got a phonecall re: a full-time remote technical writing job that would last until April. My demonically conflicted relationship with technical writing is because it's the perfect emblem of "MONEY VS PASSION???" -- I'm passionate about a publishing job, but goddamn does techwriting pay well. When she asked about my expected salary, I didn't bat a freaking eyelid at telling her my last position was $19.75 per hour (before taxes obv). Which would be a glorious 41k, holy cow.
But....... passion.
The fact that it's just a contract position, though, means I'm not sure about it -- it'd mean bailing on my publishing internships for something that isn't even a stable job. It would be nice to have 8 months of paid work, but... augh I initially said the temporary contract was fine, but after mulling over it I feel like I'll turn this down no matter what, bc if I don't get the editorial job, these internships are more valuable to my Quest(tm).
This isn't even in the bag and I'm still agonising like AM I A FINANCIAL SELLOUT OR DO I HAVE THE GUNS TO STICK TO MY DREAMSSS
Okay back to fretting about tomorrow's interview.

-- althoughhhh now she hasn't emailed me OR called me like she was supposed to. MAYBE I SCARED HER OFF WITH MY HIGH RATE A HA HA HA :X but goddamnit I refuse to take a salary drop for techwriting, I will only work for pittances if it's a job I love 8(

Imagine that she is being like Ted Cheough in Mad Men and taking the time to cross out the name of your previous employer as she writes down an EVEN HIGHER RATE.
