Fundraising from European Institutions: A How to Training for NGOs

Date: 14 September 2010, 9:00 am -5:00 pm

Venue: Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Bangkok (TBC)

US Foundations and European institutional donors offer some excellent
funding opportunities for global NGOs based in Southeast Asia, but
navigating the fragmented landscape, and developing a strategy is
difficult. The aim of the US foundations training is to help
organizations understand the US Foundation funding landscape; to
identify the relevant funding opportunities; and to maximize the
chances of a successful application. The aim of the European
institutions training is to help organizations understand European
institutional funding landscape; to learn how to easily identify
funding programs and opportunities; and to devise a strategy for
researching and mapping donors. These courses are ideally suited to
INGO, local NGO, UN, embassy staff responsible for development/NGO
issues and donor relations; funders who want to build their capacity;
and individuals who want to develop their professional skills.

Each course can be taken on its own or sign up for both trainings and
receive a discount!

TRAINING PROGRAMME
In these challenging times, NGO managers and fundraisers are under
more pressure than ever to diversify their funding sources. US and
European funding sources offer excellent funding opportunities for
NGOs in Southeast Asia. These courses will provide practical
knowledge to the participants so they understand the key issues
affecting resource mobilization and can introduce or improve
sustainable fundraising systems in their organizations. These courses
are ideally suited to INGO, local NGO, UN, embassy staff responsible
for development/NGO issues and donor relations; funders who want to
build their capacity; and individuals who want to develop their
professional skills.

13 September: Fundraising from US Foundations
The aim of the training is to help organizations understand the US
Foundation funding landscape; to identify the relevant funding
opportunities; and to maximize the chances of a successful
application. The training uses real-life examples, case studies, and
interactive exercises to illustrate effective techniques and
strategies. This training will provide participants with the
knowledge and skills to successfully develop a strategy for
fundraising from US Foundations, as well as know how to answer the
following questions:

• Where can I get information on US Foundation funding?
• What procedures and regulations do I need to typically follow?
• How does the US foundation application process work?
• What are some of the key obstacles when dealing with US Foundation
funding?

14 September: Fundraising from European Institutions
The aim of the training is to help organizations understand the
fragmented European institutional funding landscape; to learn how to
easily identify funding programs and opportunities; and to devise a
strategy for researching and mapping donors. After completion of the
seminar participants will have the tools to move forward with European
institutional donors, as well as have a greater understanding of the
following questions:

• Where can I get information on European institutional human rights
funding instruments?
• What are useful tools and resources to map institutional donors in
Europe?
• What are some of the differences between US and European
institutional funders?
