upcoming 4.5 release

I think it is almost time to do another release, 4.5.  I propose to do this next weekend (Feb 13-14), so we have a week to wrap anything up or get any other pull requests included.

I started going through the changes since 4.4 before Christmas and this was the partial completed list:
