Put Christ first! Put Him on the throne of your hearts! But I believe many of us are so hesitant because of the scars of life, what life has dealt us and so we limit God. We limit Christ to only Sunday, when we are in need, when we need a way out but Peter tells to allow Christ to make His home in our hearts, our lives and to obey Him, honor Him, glorify Him, and guard this secret place where He reins!
A few other New Testament texts are thought to provide evidence for a shared throne. The writer to the Hebrews locates the enthronement of Jesus at the right hand of God in the heavenly temple (Heb. 8:1; 10:12-13). Since the earthly sanctuary contained only one throne, the cover of the ark of the covenant, there is presumably only one throne in the heavenly sanctuary, which God and Jesus must share. This can perhaps be correlated with Revelation 20:1-3: when the heavenly temple in the heaven city descends to earth, it becomes a non-temple, but the seating arrangement is preserved.
The Lamb in the heavenly throne scene remains quite distinct from God as a dramatic actor, and Jesus sits on the throne in the non-temple as the Lamb who was slain, who ransomed a people for God by his blood.
We often say or sing that Jesus is currently enthroned in heaven or seated on His throne in heaven. However, does Jesus instead teach that He won't sit on His throne before the Second Coming (Matt. 19:28; 25:31; Luke 1:32)? Furthermore, don't the Scriptures teach that at present, rather than being on the throne, Jesus is "seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens" (Heb. 8:1, NKJV, emphasis mine; cf. 12:2)? It seems as if He isn't seated on the throne even now but is rather seated next to the throne.
Am I missing something? It does seem familiar to me that a verse exists describing Jesus as presently on a throne, but I can't recall where in the Bible, if anywhere, such is said. Do the Scriptures teach that Jesus is on His throne now, or is that only a future event?
I am not looking for "Jesus is outside time anyway" answers, as this type of response distracts from the real issue. Regardless of whether Jesus may perform some acts outside of time, there are clearly events He's done within time, such as coming to the earth. Likewise, Christ's being seated at God's right hand also appears to be an event in time, for example, taking place after His ascension.
Trinitarian and Chalcedonian theology teaches us that incarnation works by God the Son "adding on" a human nature. It is this added human nature that was raised to glory after crucifixion. Then after ascension, per Matt 19:28, Matt 25:31, and Luke 1:32 , the glorification continues into God's giving this human nature the throne of David as well, which is separate than the throne of the Trinitarian God, the throne from which God the Son came (Phil 2:7).
Thus, the answer to your question is YES, Jesus is already presently seated at the throne of David, per Eph 1:20-23 as well as St. Stephen's vision in Acts 7:56. Ligonier's website commentary on Eph 1:20-23 titled Seated at God's Right Hand said:
Then EVERYONE should also see him on the throne of David "sitting at the right hand of God the Father", not just a handful individuals like St. Stephen, ruling His kingdom visibly, not like today (only spiritually, and in "stealth mode").
But in the above verse, it is clear that both Jesus and His Father are on the throne together, and since they are two persons of the Trinity which is God, they are in complete unison and harmony, and rule as one "Hear Oh Israel the Lord thy God is One God." -- Deut. 6:4 KJV
Considering all this, there is no doubt Jesus is sitting enthroned in His kingdom. We must not lose sight of the Trinitarian concept of God for it was written that "He is seated at the right hand of God." Nor ignore the necessity of using anthropomorphic language in describing this reality. For the "Three" are still "One."
Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood ...
In order to put our trust in God for our protection and victory, we need to know deep down in our souls that He is truly our Victor. Have you ever considered what it means that Jesus ascended and sits at the right hand of the throne of God and how that applies to our here and now, everyday lives?
When he stands in the presence of God and takes his place on the throne, he represents all who are redeemed, therefore giving us access to the throne room. The ascension is not an afterthought or a way to wrap up the story. The ascension is the coronation of the king, the finishing of his work, the beginning of his heavenly reign and of his giving of gifts to the church. The true triumphal entry happened when the King of Kings, having accomplished his work on earth, returned to heaven as the exalted king.
Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. And so, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne, he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay. This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.
Since both Psalm 132:11 and Psalm 110:1 speak of the Messiah as sitting in these contexts some think the Davidic throne of Psalm 132:11 and the right hand of the father of Psalm 110:1 must be the same. Or to put another way:
The purpose of Acts 2:30-36 (and all of Acts 2) is to show the people of Israel that the resurrected Jesus is both Lord and Messiah. Jesus is at the right hand of God and He has poured out His Holy Spirit upon His followers. Peter is not stating that Jesus has assumed a transcended, heavenly Davidic throne to rule over a redefined spiritual kingdom.
Now, here is the beautiful thing that Ephesians 2:6 tells us. Not only has Jesus sat down on his throne but we are seated with him. Our king, Jesus invites us to come and sit with him. This reminds us that:
John was caught up into heaven and there he saw one seated on the throne; at least in reference to (Revelation 4:2) where only one throne is mentioned. Some argue that this throne belonged to God therefore only God existed and Jesus must be God since a second throne was not mentioned. Unfortunately they omit several things that must be made clear.
