Folder lock is software designed to let even a non-technical user take control of files and folders on their system, and even USB key stored content, and secure it from those that might want access with nefarious intent.

Before the "WINDOWS" screen at starting press F8 to enter the screen to safe mode.run your computer in safe mode and then start folder lock it will run and don't ask for password and then unlock your files hope this help.

After uninstalling Folder Lock 6 please go to My Documents and search for a file name locker with extension (*FLK) or (*FLKW) and delete. Do not forget to restart you computer before trying to delete or to open you locked files.

I have a workflow terminating because it's trying to move an entry into a folder but it can't because the entry has a lock on it. So I guess I just want the entry to be able to move even if it has a lock on it.

The Laserfiche server is the one handling locking and some actions are not possible without locking. However, Workflow retries on "entry locked" errors. Can you give us more info on what you're actually seeing?

The workflow only fails once it gets to my "Move Entry" activity, and the warning message says that the entry is locked (see screenshots), thing is, though, this only happens sporadically with this workflow, and I can't figure out why it only terminates like this sometimes.

Also, something else that's confusing, you'll see that an error is occurring on, what it says, is the activity "ISBidRequest", but that's not even an activity in the workflow . . .
Not sure if that's just saying the whole workflow itself is terminating? The name of the workflow is "IS - Bid Request"

Hi Addison,

I've sometimes run into this when documents are coming into Laserfiche from Import Agent or QF Agent. I don't know if Laserfiche is working on OCR, generating pages, or just isn't finished importing the document, but Workflow will try to act on it while the entry is still locked by the service account running Import Agent or QF Agent.

Without exploring how your documents are coming into Laserfiche to see if something is weird there, one thing you could try is adding a Try Catch activity to your workflow and put your Move Entry activity in the Try branch. If it fails, the workflow will move to the Catch branch, and what I've done in the past is put a Delay activity there to let Laserfiche finish up importing the document, and then a copy of the original Move Entry activity after the Delay. It's definitely just a workaround, and I'd recommend trying to find out why exactly these entries are being locked, but if you can't nail down why this is happening, this has worked for me in the past.

Sorry I haven't replied back to any of your comments guys. This is the
first time I've logged into this site in a long time. This instructable was something I made when I was in 8th grade. Yes I know my grammar is terrible and my spelling is even worse. This was just something I done for fun. It was never meant to be "secure or encrypted." Also this was only meant to work in Windows XP. I see that some of you have found ways to make it work in other OS and I think that's great. Most of your problems are probably related to using windows vista or windows 7. If you forgot your password just make another locker.bat and delete the old one. Just because you delete the locker.bat or locker.exe for those who converted it, doesn't mean you delete the folder where your files are stored. I will try to come back more often and respond to your comments and questions.

Now just go to were you saved the Folder Locker and open it. It should make a folder called locker. To lock the Folder you need to open the batch file. It should ask you if you want to lock the folder, all you have to do is type Y for yes and N for no. and the folder should disapere. To unlock the folder just open the batch file again and enter your password.

just delete the .bat file
create a new .bat file by copy pasting the code and put a new password in the code.
then copy the .bat file to that folder and then run
passsword will be asked and then type the new password
thats all,the hidden folder will unlock

I have created a batch file for locking d folder on my PC. It was working fine till i formatted my C drive. after that the disk in which i created this batch file is locked and it is showing that access is denied. I am totally stuck and do not know what to do. Plzzzzzzzzz help me.

Uhm hello! I saw this method on youtube and I tried it to lock my important files. It was working fine for a few months but now when I tried opening it, the window for the insert password keeps crashing. How am I supposed to open my folder if I can't insert my password :/ How can I undo this lock? Please, I need your help, these files are important to me..

I have a folder that was sent to me by a client a couple of years ago that I can't remove from my Dropbox. The folder has a grey padlock on the bottom left corner and also an X in a red circle on the bottom right corner - see screen shot. I am using a Mac with OS Mojave 10.14.6

This did not work because when I logged in under test the folder did not show up in my drop box. It only seems to show up in the finder window when when I open my dropbox files from the icon in the top menu bar??? Even when I open dropbox.com on the web the folder does not show up???

The problem seems not just permissions, but owning. Your can read this for more information how to revert owning. It's normal when you switch to different user not to see directly Dropbox folder of the initial user. Every user have their own such folder. You have to be still able to navigate to appropriate Dropbox directory - just go to appropriate user directory first. Or may be the terminal solution would be better. The choice is yours.

I have a single-threaded program that processes folders and files in a source directory. Is there a way to block a folder, with files in it, within my source directory from being modified by other processes while my program is working on it? I'm thinking something along the lines of placing some kind of exclusive lock on the folder itself, so only my program's process can use it.

I do not want to block the root source directory itself, just whatever folder(s), in the top level of that directory, I might be processing at any particular moment. I still want to be able to allow outside processes to add folders to the source directory, while I'm processing other folders.

Part of what makes this both challenging and necessary is that I need to recreate the structure of whatever folder(s) I'm processing, in the source directory, in a separate destination directory. So I can't have a any other process modifying the folder(s) and File(s) while my program is working with them.

To expand on what worked - I used my Folder Lock serial number as the password, unlocked the folder with my old tax data, then uninstalled Folder Lock (you could only uninstall once getting past the password.) Rebooted, and there was the folder.

Unfortunately, for some reason the folder was empty. At that point I used an undelete to see if I could find it. I d/led one, it worked very well, and there were the files. But to recover all of them they wanted you to pay for a registered copy.

When users forget the password, they will surely be locked and won't be able to access their locked files and data. On this page, in Part 1, you'll find 3 methods provided by professional users and geeks to unlock Folder Lock without the password.

"I locked one of the folders in my laptop (windows 10) by using a password-protected code. I just put the code on a notepad, create a folder, and locked it. It's a Windows batch file (cmd.exe). I have totally forgotten my password now and tried at least 30 times to open it. Unfortunately, the password was wrong and it didn't work.

So now you can view, find and reuse your saved files in Folder Lock or folders again without any passwords. If you cannot find wanted files in the target folder, follow either method offered below to get your lost files back.

Folder Lock is a tool that password-protects files, folders, and drives. The program helps to hide, protect, encrypt files on your computer, hard drive, or any portable storage devices. It can also secure the files from viruses and spyware and protects them from being accessed by other PCs in the network. Folder Lock can lock files in Windows, DOS, and Safe Modes.

For the overall upkeep and organization of the system also Folder Lock is rather helpful. You can easily hide files and protect them from children. Files and folders can also be hidden from the network, creating another layer of privacy and protection. The safe lockers you create can also be transferred on to other storage devices like USBs or External Hard Drives.

I have a private folder on my drive that I keep personal docs in and i want to make it password protected. So I thought I would click Get Info > make it write only in the Sharing & Permissions section > lock it in the General section, then click the padlock at the bottom corner to prevent changes, which means if anyone wants to get access to the folder, they would have to click the padlock, type in a password, uncheck the Locked tick and then change the permissions to read & write.
