Good morning friends!

Attached and copied into the body of this email you will find the Wesley Study Notes for our preparation for this Sunday morning’s worship. Remember that this week we are prayerfully and carefully re-launching in person worship with one service at 10am. If you do not feel comfortable getting out and coming to the church, the service will be simulcast through our website at www.fumcmarblefalls.com

Also on our home page on our website this morning you will find a video that we made yesterday to help us prepare for Sunday morning. Friends, things will be different. But we can do this!

I look forward to sharing with you in worship on Sunday morning, either in person or online. Thanks be to God!

Blessings

Ellen

Wesley Groups Study Lesson

Week of June 14, 2020

Scripture: Isaiah 40:28-31

“30 Second Theology” Series

Theme: We Will Get Through This

Opening Prayer:

Dear God, dare we think we’re on the downhill side of this pandemic? Is it possible that we’ve seen the worst? We’ve been so overwhelmed for so long and we need something to remind us that we will get through this! Please God, send the power of your Holy Spirit to comfort us and to show us the way. And please God, let this pandemic end! In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Overview:  This week we continue our sermon series: “30 Second Theology”. The link to the commercial this week is:

Questions for reflection:

  1. Watch the TV commercial. What does it say to you? How does it make you feel?
  2. Read all of Isaiah 40. Then take note of the last few verses that are our scripture lesson. How does it connect with the commercial?
  3. What emotions are you feeling right now in this almost 4th month of COVID? Are you connected to others, or are you feeling disconnected? What would be the most help to you? Will you let your pastors know? (Thank you)
  4. What does the word “endurance” mean? How does it relate to your life experience right now? What prior life experiences have you had that remind you of the need for endurance? What did you learn from that prior experience?
  5. How do these words from Isaiah the prophet speak into your heart right now?
  6. Why is waiting so hard on us? What can we learn from the experience of waiting?
  7. Where do you see God at work in this pandemic?

Closing Thoughts on Scripture Lesson: Discuss anything else that you noticed in this lesson that speaks to you.

Sharing of Prayer Concerns & Celebrations

Closing Prayer: Loving God, at this time of waiting and enduring, teach us about the amazing gift of endurance that you give to us, that is promised in this scripture. Help us learn that we can rely on you first and foremost, and not on our own abilities. Help us see how you are working in the midst of pandemic and give us the assurance that we will get through this. Amen!
