What it is.
I know I've been quiet of late, but it's only cuz I've been busy
cookin' shit up!
First things first: I'm playing a solo Maestro Echoplex show up in
Somerville MA this coming Friday, December 8th at P.A.'s Lounge. I'm
not playing solo much these days, and I know I promised (out loud? to
myself? I forgit) that I wouldn't play solo again for a while, and I
meant it. So I'll do my best to keep a few tricks up my sleeve...
Anyway, the show should be a great one and I do hope you'll come if
you're anywhere in the area, or send proxies if you're elsewhere! I'm
opening for two great bands: Athens GA's Phosphorescent (Misra
Records), who bring the orchestrated horn-y folk stylee
(www.myspace.com/phosphorescent), and ragged-ass Brooklynites O'Death,
who take their folk music with a whiskey chaser and a punch in the
balls (www.myspace.com/odeath). Should be "sweet," as the kids say.
It's $8 if you're older than 21, $12 for the whippersnappers. Details
below...

2): The rerelease of the beloved Maestro Echoplex "Last Night I Saw God
on the Dance Floor" EP is still available via Catbird Records! Go
paypal yourself some of that goodness right now:
www.catbirdrecords.com/cbr_006.shtml. Also, Maestro's "My Eyes Are
Disconnected From My Head is Disconnected From My Body" will be
featured on InRadio's Jan/Feb compilation alongside the likes of Bishop
Allen, Dosh, Pajo (who I'm lagging far behind where name changes are
concerned), and a bunch of others. It's part of an ongoing
subscription series of very cheaply priced cd's designed to give
curious folks a bite-sized taste of the goodness. More on the
compilation as it becomes available, and in the meantime go check out
www.inradio.net and give a subscription to your grandpa for the
holidays so he can be the coolest granpappy on the block.
c): The debut Fulton Lights record will be out in February/March as a
split-release between Catbird Records and Android Eats Records! For
those that have been under a log or living in other solar systems, this
is my big-ass, nine (or ten or eleven...) person project of beats,
strings, noise, and what-have-ya. You can hear some of the tracks over
at www.fultonlights.com or at the myspace page:
www.myspace.com/andrewspencermusic. In February Catbird Records will
issue a limited edition version of the album complete with a bonus disc
of remixes and unreleased material, and it will be "sweet." More
details on that soon!
Cuatro): I recently got started producing the debut record from Katie
Mullins, and god damn it's gonna be good. It's way early to be telling
you anything about this, but if you've come to see any of the shows
that you know you can expect something special. Guitars, harmonium,
mbira, and above all Katie's great songs and voice. Looking forward to
being able to share that with you when the time's right.
Ok, that's it. Hope you can come to the Somerville show, or send some
friends out!
peace
Andy
