Good news for the HPF!

Friends and Allies:

Margaret Mead said it best: "Never doubt that a small group of
thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the
only thing that ever has." Your voice is being heard!

Today, we received word of a major victory for our efforts to secure
full and permanent funding for the Historic Preservation Fund.

This morning Rep. Nick Rahall, Chairman of the House Natural Resources
Committee released a new version of H.R.3534, The Consolidated, Land,
Energy and Aquatic Resources Act of 2009 and this time included
authorization for full funding for the Historic Preservation Fund!
The legislation also contains full funding for the Land and Water
Conservation Fund and would create and fund a new Oceans Trust Fund.
More details will follow in the next few days as we receive it.

This is only one step in the process, and there is still a long way to
go, but it is an important first step and evidence of the success of
your grassroots efforts.

Thank you, so much for all you do for historic preservation. Keep
spreading the word about the Coalition for Full Funding - each new
voice (222 supporting organizations, communities, agencies and Tribes)
makes a difference.
