Happy Dusheera to all my Hindu friends.
As I started writing this message, I received an email from a dear
friend of mine, Rajat Kumar. Upon reviewing the content, I found it
much better than mine. Hence I paste his content, rather than mine.

We are the largest secular democratic republic in the world and
fortunately owing to the unique diversity, we have a reason to
celebrate all the time. Also, there is always something to learn.
Dusshera celebrates the victory of good over evil. Dusshera means
“Dush” = evil + “Hara” = loss, so Dusshera actually is losing all our
evils. I believe that good is not the opposite or opponent of evil, it
is merely the absence of it. Thus, the key to becoming a better human
being might be to rid ourselves of evil, rather than uprooting all
that we consider evil around us (while considering ourselves to be
morally superior).
This on Dusshera is signified by burning an effigy of Ravana with ten
heads, each head depicting an evil aspect like Greed, Dishonesty,
Selfishness, Jealousy, Self Praise, Desire, Lies, Pride, Delusion and
Ego.
End of Rajat's message........
Thank you Rajat for all the info and the inspire.
Its indeed a meaningful festival.
