Hi Everyone,
Thank you for posting your progress & updates as you all have started
working through the book. I finally started the book last night.
Initially, I was stuck because I didn't have a journal. Silly how
something so little can delay things. Anyway, thanks to all of you, I
did FINALLY start mostly because I didn't want to fall behind. This
was great as, in the past, I would probably just have put the book
aside and "gotten to it" later. Even though I had a bad attitude
about picking up the book (not sure why?), I have to say the first
chapter was wonderful & got me re-focused. Even though I didn't feel
like there was any new material in this chapter (it followed the
podcasts really well), reading it in a book format and having my
journal handy to write while I read really helped. I typically have
listened in the car and so I never did the exercises as they came up
on the podcasts. Then, of course, I never did them later either.

I am finding that focusing on the "toward" motivations are helping
quite a bit. I tend to focus on beating myself up or being overly
strict with myself. Focusing on what I want rather than what I don't
want has already helped make a big shift in my thinking and let the
dreamer out a little.

I plan to listen to the meditation on creating the ideal tonight. I
may re-listen to the podcasts in their entirety too; we'll see how it
goes.

Question, did you progress immediately to Week 2 or did you let Week 1
settle in first? I don't want to lose momentum but don't want to rush
the process either.

Good luck with your day and thanks, again, for posting and keeping me
moving forward.
Diane

Thats great you finally got started.  I know what you mean about the little things that hold us back.  it's the part of us that is happy just the way things are.

In answer to your question, I let some time past before I started chapter two.  Initially I told myself I needed to think and journal more about the concepts. But what it came down to was time, our the lack thereof.

I started chapter two today on an airplane.  It's really good!  What kind of overeater are you.  Really good insights.  Since I was reading it on my Kindle on my phone, I didn't do any exercises.  And since I didn't write about what I read, I don't remember what those insights were.  But I remember thinking "wow", thats me!!! Funny how my mind blocks what it doesn't want to hear.  Part of me is panicking because it thinks it's defense and security is being ripped away.

Anyway, I plan to read again and write tonight in my hotel room  Madison, WI.

Patti
