After downloading the Cite While You Write plugin, EndNote commands will appear in Word. The Cite While You Write plugin allows communication between EndNote Basic and Microsoft Word. Here's how it works:
When you download Endnote Desktop, the Cite While You Write plugin should automatically download and be installed in Word. If you're using Endnote Basic (which only gives you access to Endnote Online), you can download the plugin separately. You'll find it under Format in your Endnote Basic account.
If you have the full version of Endnote (including Endnote Desktop), the plugin will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer along with the Desktop program. If you have Endnote Basic, you'll have to download the plugin separately.
To download Cite While You Write, click on Downloads. You will see links to download plugins for Windows and Macintosh. Select the correct link for your computer and follow the directions to install.
The link between EndNote and Word has become corrupted. To solve this you need to enable the relevant plugins again. Click on File and Options in Word. Next click on Add-Ins on the left. In the Manage: drop-down list at the bottom of the page, click on Disabled Items and then on Go. Select the EndNote plugins and click Enable.
You can get EndNote Click Premium for free by inviting one friend or colleague to join EndNote Click. When a new user joins EndNote Click through your personal referral link we automatically upgrade your account to EndNote Click Premium. You can find your personal referral link on your settings page: click.endnote.com/settings
5. On the resulting screen, click the Zotero Connector plugin icon in your browser, next to the URL Address bar. It looks like a little folder. Click Select All. Click OK.
6. Open the Zotero application. Under your Group Libraries, you will now have a group called export-endnote. Select all references by clicking one of them, and pressing Ctrl+A (Command+A on Mac). Right click on any of them, and click Export.
In EndNote, you'll arrange your references within 'libraries'. You can think of libraries as the equivalent to Word Documents. You can have multiple word documents for different assignments, projects, and purposes. EndNote is much the same way. You can create different libraries for different projects, classes, or content areas.
While it is possible to install this plugin from the desktop software, the directions are more complicated than obtaining the software from your account online. So, log into your EndNote online account, select the Downloads folder, and select the PC or MAC option depending on your operating system.
