We have managed to get a small room at the following location:

Address:
Genki Japanese and Culture School
Grand Building, 2nd floor
2-9-5 Daimyo, Chuuouku
Fukuoka City
Fukuoka Prefecture
810-0041, Japan

It will hold about 10 from what I am told. 7:30-9:30pm is what I
booked it for. See you there!

Hey, I am in. However, wouldn't an informal location like a Starbucks or a restaurant be better? It would allow lots of people to come along and it would not be too intense? Would be more fun too.

I would tend to agree but I was worried about the noise and the
ability to find seating. I was thinking about
that initially but a buddy or mine told me about this place so I
reserved it. It doesn't matter to me either way.
I want it to be fun and informal :-) Hang out type atmosphere

Does anyone else have any thoughts?

Though I initiated Fukuoka Geeks, I am not the owner. It's a group so lets figure out what
everyone wants to do. I think if we do StarBucks or something maybe the one in Akasaka?
I usually hang out at Seattle's Best in Tenjin Core since they have free Wifi, but getting
a good spot for a small group is pretty hard.

PS. I would have everyone over to my apartment but I live a couple stops past Maebaru,
way in the sticks :-)  I don't think everyone wants to travel that far, right?

I guess one question you need to ask is, how many people have RSVP'd? I think if the attendees is a small group then we can pretty much meet anywhere.  Also for me I'm wondering if there is any set purpose to meet (ie. showing off current projects, hardware, etc.).  An open chat is nice and all, but it might not flow if people are a bit timid.

Just my 2 yens worth.

I'm definitely thinking of attending, though.

So far we have about 7 people that have RSVP'd.  Though you never know if all will attend with meet ups. The purpose is to "Talk shop", which includes showing off current projects, bouncing ideas off of each other, networking, discussing trends, showing off tech toys, gaming, coding, business solutions, and anything else "geeky".

The idea is based on "Manoa Geeks" (I think there is a website www.manoageeks.com) which I was a member of in Hawaii. It was started by a guy named Aaron to meet with like minded individuals. We started with 2-3 and ended up have 20-30+ people in sponsored venues.  We started in a StarBucks in Manoa ;-)

Sounds all good to me.  Eric -- thanks for organizing, and the venue you've booked would probably be better than Starbucks if people are to bring any laptops, netbooks, notebooks, etc.

Anyways, I will see you all on Friday night :)
