First World Fujara Festival

Advanced information for all fujara and overtone flutes (whistles,
pipes) enthusiasts!

The 1st International Fujara Festival is in preparation for next year!

It will run from Friday 5-10-2013 to Sunday 5-12-2013 at Zvolen
Castle, in the town of Zvolen (in the traditional fujara Detva
region), in Slovakia:

There will be ongoing performances by both traditional players, and
world non-traditional fujara players on multiple stages the whole
weekend, plus there will be performances by other “magnet” artists
there. Besides music there will be plenty of other attractions there,
from ethnic food specialties to different craftsmen tables of fujara,
whistles and other items. There is also plan for teaching and
participatory workshops for fujara and koncovka players of
intermediate to advanced level, and lectures.
I think the biggest gain is for the fujara players from different
countries to exchange ideas, techniques, and get to know each other,
there is so many different kind of music which can be done with fujara
and koncovka, that competition is not necessary, and cooperation would
benefit everybody.
I will keep you informed, as more details develop, but this gives you
an early notice for long range travel planning.
I hope to meet many of you at the festival, this is great opportunity
to meet your other world fujara friends there.
