Hi,
this is just a last reminder, that the fujara / koncovka class starts
in 2 weeks, so if you have been thinking about it, and
procrastinating, now is the time to register, there are still 2
openings.
It is a unique opportunity to learn to play either fujara, or koncovka
in 5 days (July 1 – 5), and the class is part of summer program at
McDaniel College (Westminster, Maryland), the program is called
“Common Ground on the Hill”.
This is the only place in entire country offering this course:
Common Ground on the Hill:

read details about the course, and click "register".
Both instruments can be played by anybody, especially koncovka is very
easy to play, because there are no side holes in the traditional
Slovak koncovka. School children around Prague in Czech republic are
being taught intuitive koncovka playing as their first music
instrument, but it can be also played by serious musicians, for it’s
unique properties, and blues scale, I enjoy playing koncovka as much
as fujara.
There are still openings for 2 more students this year, and because
the course runs 1st week of July, with the holiday, there are only 4
days of vacation needed; or - because it is in the 1st period (9:00 –
10:15) each day, people who are local, and who do not take any other
instruments later in the day, could still get to their work, if
desired.
There are great lessons offered in other instruments there as well,
and besides single students of all ages from the whole country, I have
seen also families, who come to Common Ground every year to spend
there their vacation, filled with music and evening concerts in the
beautiful campus on the edge of the small town.
Thank you, I am very much looking forward the Common Ground week
experience, and maybe to see you there!
