Hi everyone,

Didn't see fuge-devel on the mailing list so want to forward this to
everyone. Who plans on going to MGED this year? I will go, I believe
we should have a group there and do a poster or two on FuGE, the STKs,
etc. This will be an important and key event to promote awareness and
adoption of FuGE and the tools available as well as those being
developed.

Leandro

Subject: MGED 11 Meeting, Trentino, Italy : Abstract Submission deadline
for oral presentations is June 10th

Dear Colleagues,

Apologies if you receive this more than once.

The MGED 11 abstract submission deadline for consideration for an oral
presentation is next Tuesday, June 10th.

Further information on MGED 11 is available at
http://www.mgedmeeting.org/
and other key dates are:

Notice of acceptance: June 25th
Early registration ends: June 30th
All abstract submission closes: August 5th

The scientific focus of the meeting will be high throughput
technologies - in particular microarrays and ultra high throughput
sequencing - and associated data handling issues, analysis techniques
and standards. We have lined up some outstanding speakers who will be
giving talks on these topics.

This year we will again be selecting half of the plenary speakers from
submitted abstracts, to encourage greater participation in the MGED
community. Continuing from last year, we will also be running a
poster competition, with prizes for the best posters presented by
graduate and postdoctoral students. Finally, we will be awarding up
to seven $1500 travel grants to graduate or postdoctoral students who
are US citizens traveling from the US.

We look forward to seeing you all in Trentino,

Sincerely,

The Microarray and Gene Expression Data (MGED) Society

Hi Leandro,
good plan indeed.
On this matter I will give a short presentation on (integrative)
standards and will also refer to FuGE.
So if there is a poster I can point the audience to that would be great!
Thanks,
Susanna

Hi Leandro,
I'm unlikely to be able to attend, but if you'd like to put in an abstract to do an oral presentation on FuGE that would be great...
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,
for the 'standard' session we will not select abstracts for presentations (but I am cc to Chris S who will chair it to be sure).
Definitely one or more posters will be very useful, as the poster session is right after the standard one.
Thanks,
Susanna

Hello,

Andy, why don’t we do a couple posters, one on the FuGE data standard and then I’ll do one on the STKs (XSD and database ones)?

If you’re happy to present both of them then fine with me J Otherwise one summary poster may be enough, unless anyone else is going?

How about someone demos something? Either show Symba, or maybe
hold a 'build your own model' roadshow and make xsd and db
schemata on the fly (that may of course go horribly wrong).

Just nice for people to see that something really exists and be
able to get touchy-feely with it...

Btw I mean on a little table in front of the poster, in the
poster session, on a laptop (i.e., not trying to hijack a talk
session somewhere).

Hi,

I will also have a poster on our FuGE system implementation, sysFusion,
and I would be happy to do demos of it and also the underlying EJB 3.0
STK which it uses. Andy, I will also present both posters if needed and
do my best to answer questions about the FuGE data standard poster, but
I know I will not be nearly as capable as you. Here at my institute
people have given me various real-world use cases and asked how it fits
into the model and sometimes I have trouble knowing exactly, but this is
definitely my ignorance as I have focused all my attention on developing
a database and software around the FuGE standard and this didn't
necessarily require knowing this (yet) :)

Oops, sorry if I wasn't clear, just reread what I wrote.

I would be happy to put together a poster on the FuGE STKs and present
this. Andy, if you would like to do a poster on the FuGE data standard
as written below I will do my best to present this poster as well. If
you feel both should be merged into a summary poster I am ok with that
too. I will then also have a sysFusion poster showing how we have used
one of the STKs to build a database and system using FuGE.
