Cherie is a senior student in the Juilliard Pre-College Division. She studies piano with Yoheved Kaplinsky, Artistic Director of the Juilliard Pre-College Division and Chair of the Piano Department at the Juilliard School.
Cherie began studying piano at the age of 5, and gave her first solo performance in Carnegie Hall at the age of nine as a prizewinner in the New York Music Competition. Since
then, she has won top prizes in the Crescendo Music Awards, the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, the Yonkers Philharmonic Concerto Competition, the Manhattan School of Music Concerto Competition, and the International Young Artist Piano Competition with Chinese Music. She has given sold-out solo recitals in Shanghai, China for the past three years, and is active in the chamber-music and new-music scenes at Juilliard. Furthermore, she has participated in music festivals around the world, including the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado and the International Academy of Music in Italy.
Cherie is very accomplished both musically and academically. She is
the Scarsdale High School math team captain, and has won many national academic awards, including the Rensselaer Medal for Math and Science and the National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE) Achievement Award in Writing. In December, Cherie got accepted into Harvard University, and will begin her studies there this fall.
