I'm using old ripple for a project at work now, and I have to say it's MUCH better and easier to work with than standard NuGet client. Thanks for the fabulous work, guys.
My question is - how can I get rid of versions being embedded into folder names? I think I heard it's possible to do with ripple. Do I need to upgrade to version 2 to get that?

Upgrade to the latest ripple and then run "ripple convert" on your solution to get rid of the versions in your folder names.

Nice! Will do. And what about .csproj files? Should I edit them by hand?

The convert command should take care of the csproj files for you.

Josh will remind me too that you might want to start with a "git clean -xfd" first before converting.

Exactly what Jeremy said. Make sure you start clean. The convert command will cover most of everything. The places where I've seen it mess up the most is when your csproj references and packages.config are out of sync.

Just yell at us if something doesn't look right after the convert.

Guys,

I'm having an issue with this. I'm using the new ruby gem for ripple-cli, announced yesterday. I've tried ripple convert, ripple update, and ripple restore, all on an existing solution that uses "classic mode". Ripple always bombs on my few packages that are on a file system feed (with "Could not find MyPackage,1.x.y.z,Fixed").

I've triple checked the new docs about such feeds. My ripple.config file has the fubu and NuGet feeds (which are working great); however, I also have one like the following:

<Feed Url="file://C:/Development/PrivatePackages" Mode="Float" Stability="ReleasedOnly" />

That folder has 3 or 4 different packages with multiple versions of each. For example:
  • MyPackage.1.1.2.0.nupkg
  • MyPackage.1.1.3.0.nupkg
  • MyPackage.1.1.7.0.nupkg
  • MyOtherPackage.2.3.2.0.nupkg
  • MyOtherPackage.2.3.4.0.nupkg
Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Yeah, grab the very latest ripple-cli gem from this morning and I suspect that it might fix anything involving file based feeds....

Oh, man. I apologize for not checking for an update since yesterday. That did the trick. Now, I bask in the glory of a ripple-converted solution.

Thanks!
