about custom fields

I would like know if the fields that appear when you add a new event
can be edited, for example, add more fields than the description and
date, like a "name" field, "type of event" field, etc...

Yes. Those fields are part of the demo app and not technically part of
the calendar library. You can customize those all you want quite easily.
