Unable to get demo application compiled

Hi All,

I am newbie to GWT. However I am here after some understanding. I am
trying to compile calendar demo work without success. I am using ant
script provided with the source.

I complied, build all the subprojects in following order:
1. ftr-gwt-date-emulation BUILD Success.
2. ftr-gwt-library-date
3. ftr-gwt-library-extras
4. ftr-gwt-library-file
5. ftr-gwt-demo

I am putting the compilation oder, don't know how much does it matter,
but finally I am able to build everything but unable to run the demo
application.

However when I try "ant compile-cal-demo" command inside "ftr-gwt-
demo", I get following errors.

This means application is compiled but some compiled classes are being
removed due to following error message:
"No source code is available for type
org.cobogw.gwt.user.client.ui.RoundedPanel; did you forget to inherit
a required module?"

I am not clear as to where do I define the inheritance of the required
module which is available as lib\org.cobogw.gwt.jar. Which build
script is creating the GWT project and which gwt.xml file do I need to
check to correct this reference issue in the demo project?

My second question is about missing project source code "ftr-library-
eclipse" which is supposed to be available at SVN "http://ftr-gwt-
library.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ftr-library-eclipse/", which is not
found there. I am using TortoiseSVN on windows xp machine, does this
make any difference? Where can I get source code of "ftr-library-
eclipse" project, because I see it in the wiki article at
http://code.google.com/p/ftr-gwt-library/wiki/BuildingWithAnt I feel I
would need that project too, am I correct on this?

Please help me understand these issues.

You will need to add rounded corner thinge on your own... just google it out and you will find it easily...
Even I got stuck with this when i started. :))

Hi Amit,

Thanks for quick response. I know
org.cobogw.gwt.user.client.ui.RoundedPanel is a part of
org.cobogw.gwt.jar which is available in SVN but was not working for
me when I tried to "ant build jad" to ftr-gwt-library-date and ftr-gwt-
library-extra module, it was due to difference in java versions. I
solved it by downloading the source code of this org.cobogw.gwt.jar
library and compiling/packaging in correct java version (1.5) then
added to project_home\lib it helped me to compile the other modules
viz ftr-gwt-library-date and ftr-gwt-library-extra.

The problem now I see is with ftr-gwt-demo module in which when I am
trying "ant compile-cal-demo" it gives the error as I mentioned.

What I feel is that, we provide dependent libraries inside the <module-
name>.gwt.xml file in any GWT project, for example <inherits
name="com.google.gwt.user.User"/>, but is not happening in my case
with ftr-gwt-demo.

Also do you have any idea where can I find the "ftr-library-eclipse"
project's source code?

Ok I found the MainDemoApp.gwt.xml file which I was looking for inside
\ftr-gwt-demo\src\main\resources\eu\future\earth\gwt path. But now I
am trying to add <inherits
name="org.cobogw.gwt.user.client.ui.RoundedPanel"/> into

Now 'org/cobogw/gwt/user/client/ui/RoundedPanel.gwt.xml' file seems
missing even not available inside org.cobogw.gwt.jar.

Ok I was wrong there. I read the wiki article of project cobogw at
Google Codes and found that I had to add <inherits
name='org.cobogw.gwt.user.User' /> into \ftr-gwt-demo\src\main
\resources\eu\future\earth\gwt\MainDemoApp.gwt.xml file.

Doing so helped me to got me the same error.

org.cobogw.gwt.user.client.ui.RoundedPanel; did you forget to inherit
a required module?

I compared the org.cobogw.gwt.jar that I generated (to solve bad file
version issue) with the original jar org.cobogw.gwt-1.2.2.jar that I
downloaded from project site at google code. I saw that I have
excluding .java files and hence RoundedPanel.java as well while
packaging into JAR, where as in original JAR, all source code .java
files were right inside the JAR. So I repackaged it, placed inside
\lib, reexecuted "ant build jar" in all "ftr-gwt-*-*" modules and then
finally done "ant compile-cal-demo" in ftr-gwt-demo. It compiled
succesfully and now am also able to run it via ant run-cal-demo.

After this success, I was expecting the same Calendar component as
available on the link http://www.future-earth.eu/gwt/eu.future.earth.gwt.MainDemoApp/MainDemoApp.html
But I see only two rows in the calendar tab with time 0:00 - 22:00 and
two names Janine and Nettie on the left side of the two row.

Can any body tell me why do I get such calendar component instead of
the one expected is in the demo on this site.

Please help me to understand what am I doing wrong. Also please tell
me where can I find the "ftr-library-eclipse" project's source code?

That would be mine fault.

We are working on new stuf and i commented out the calander to get
default the new component.

Please update. It shoudl be fixed.

Hi Marteijn,

Its okay, we understand such things happen when you are continuously
working on a project. Thanks for all your efforts and providing us
such a great piece of code.

Also, I've been looking for the source code of eclipse project as
mentioned in wiki article. Can you help me find that source code.

As I said before that I am now able to compile and run the demo
application, but when I try to make use of MultiView component with
DefaultStringPanelRenderer.java, SampleEventCacheController.java etc
other default classes as provided in demo application, I get
everything working but when I add event, the event is added but only
visible in Month Panel, not in day, week panel, I'm still trying to
find out what went wrong. Any body can put some lights on the concept
as to how this multiview component works and expects then it would be
helpful.
