Hey,

Last minute  question -  feedback would be much appreciated!  :)

Dry Beans from last year on the farm- are they Bush varieties or pole beans? I remembered we had some of each and couldn't remember which were which.

Jacobs cattle
Kenearly yellow eye
European soldier
True Cranbery
Vermont cranberry
Cherokee trail of tears.

Thanks!!

Hey Graham!

I just planted mine recently! Molly, back me up, but I believe all were bush except Cherokee (a good climber) and True Cranberry (don't remember it being a good climber though). Scarlet Runner was also a climber but we didn't really get any significant yield.

While we're on the topic if personal plots, I'm hoping to get my ground cherries in tomorrow. Any culture advice for me Graham? Plastic mulch and row cover? Other tips?

Matt and I have decided very last minute this season to move to a new apartment where there's a huge hoop house and about an acre of tilled land in its first season that all need some care and use. We're growing hops, barley, unique beer-flavoring crops, and a garden of veggies/flowers for us. Oh, and we're both working full time and planning a wedding (details). Low expectations but high spirits! Hope everyone is well!

Allison

Thanks Allison! That's really good to know.

Ground Cherries. What worked best last year was black plastic. The row cover had only a marginal affect. I learned that pruning doesn't work.

Sounds like you found a great apartment. Only in Vermont do apartments come with hoophouses. Sounds like some great beers are going to come out of this summer! I hear you about wedding planning (or not planning). The date is rushing towards us! Working part time at the Local Grocer and Meg is teaching. Lots on the go with food in this city.

Thinking of you all daily as I work in the gardens. I had my little red knife out the other day to prune tomatoes and was rushed with memories of the FTP hoophouse.

Graham
