M&A class

Reminder:  Salesforce takeover case is due tomorrow at 6pm. A lot of great questions on the FTMBA Google site were posted. We will discuss the results in presentations next week. Same method we used on the Cooper Case in class.

Preparation for class: In addition to the case presentations we will be discussing Arrow as an integration case. With the prelude on Arrow from last sessions due diligence exercise I except an insightful consideration of the questions posed. I will choose a case lead for an overview.

Free interviewing skill workshop: Immediately after  the FTMBA class at 11:15 am on Wednesday we will move on to C250 and hold a interviewing workshop. I approach interviewing with a different philosophy than many. It has yielded great success and is worth considering. I do this as a volunteer experience. The day class is so engaged we have not had time to offer it in class.

Illumina: more news stitched… nothing out the ordinary

Due Dilly Rehash: The FTMBA period resulted in quite a few students approaching us after class claiming it was one of the best classes in their MBA experiences. Some less enthusiastic but were pleased with the exercise. The EWMBA session was not as engaged and I am wondering why …so chime in if you a have a view.   More than just a skill in M&A due dilly leadership requires intelligence gathering from a smorgasbord of informants and enlightened interrogation technique is a necessary tool.  It will help you arrive at the best decisions. Lots of good ideas to evolve the simulation… please share your ideas but here is what I have so far…

  • Creating a video of myself questioning a student panelist to prep the session so you have an idea what the ”interactive sourcing” skill looks like in advance of class
  • Thinning it down- less panelists to choose  from
  • Checking with the panelists in advance to be sure they really understand their role and response relevance
  • Moving the discussion panelist to the front of the class
