Hi

First time coming from Arizona, what is a good amount to tell parents to supply kids for buying lunch and dinner? I assume no food is supplied for the kids at the competition.  Is $15/meal reasonable?  Thanks

Hi,

Yes, I believe $15 is very reasonable.  It will most likely be lower at lunch but might be more at dinner? One thing we usually do is bring breakfast items to eat in the hotel room (or purchase there)  that helps save some money too.

Just my 2 cents.

I suggest planning more like $20 per meal so that if the venue meals are pricy, they are not going to be short. Boxed lunches are $12.50, so outside meals can be had for less, but cannot be eaten in the venue. Dinners are normally about $20 if they are not extravagant with their choices. If you are bringing a big group (40+), you will want to plan dinners ahead and contact the restaurants nearby to see what they can do to give you a reservation and possibly a limited menu so that service can be faster.

I hope that helps.

Please feel free to reach out if you need further advice (I have done lots of travel with teams, both small numbers and big numbers of people).

That's what we are budgeting. Fortunately our hotel offers breakfast and that takes care of one meal.

Otherwise I would bring breakfast bars, cereal, croissants, paper bowls and spoons (buy milk when you arrive) to help take care of that and you can eat at your hotel for a fraction of the price breakfast places charge.

There are lots of places to eat within walking distance of the convention center for quick bites.

See you there,
Suzanne
