Hello Tuesday Newsday Subscribers,

Hope that everyone enjoyed a safe and happy Christmas!  Happy New Year, in advance.

This note is being sent to bring you up to date on the January Meet situation.

We have advised our January 8th and January 9th Meet teams and volunteers that those events are not happening as scheduled.

Liberty Science Center (host of the January 8th Meet) advised us that they shuttered the doors to the Science Center until January 13th.

The thinking appears to be that Omicron typically “burns through” a community in about 4 weeks.

Since the outbreak in NJ became more prevalent in early December, it should be subsiding by mid-January. Let’s hope there’s evidence that’s the case.

Similar to Liberty Science Center (and others), FTCNJ is avoiding gatherings until mid-January, at the earliest.

Currently two locations have been asked about taking on the Jan 8th or Jan 9th Meets, later in the month of January. We do not yet have confirmation.

FTCNJ will continue to follow the news regarding the spread of the Omicron variant and its impact on numerous activities, including schools.

You can be sure that we will send updates to keep everyone informed ….including our Tuesday Newsday subscribers.

It is good that the teams were able to enjoy their Early-Season and Mid-Season Meet Periods before things became complicated in this Late-Season Period.

If Omicron subsides as expected, the February League Tournaments should not be threatened. It is the January Meets that are being affected.

Sorry for the sad turn of events.
