I got a work from an institute in Kozhikode where they are using RHEL
as the OS. In one system (in which RHEL 5 i686 is installed), the NIC
card has not taken. So they cannot connect to the intranet.

After checking with lspci, I got the result as:

Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit
Ethernet Controller (rev 01)

I downloaded the source for this.

When I tried to install it via typing 'make' in the terminal, it is
showing some errors like '/lib/modules/2.6..(your kernal)/build'
cannot enter....

In the case of ubuntu I know it is due to the unavailability of
complete gcc set and in that case it will be ok by installing the
package 'build-essential'

But I am not so good in the case of redhat. I donot know which is the
similar package and how to install it.

I am pretty poor in rpm and yum.
