Interested contributors should submit a draft paper or a detailed two-page proposal by August 31, 2016.
Expenses: Travel and hotel expenses of presenting authors will be covered by the conference organizers.

Key areas for research include the following topics: 
1) The constraints or barriers to women’s economic empowerment. a. Gender gaps in wages, labor demand and supply, and productivity. b. Gender gaps in asset ownership. c. The care economy and gender gaps in women’s unpaid work burdens. 
2) Patterns of economic growth and structural change and the relationship to women’s economic role and gender equality. a. The influence of economic growth and structural change, either in industrial composition or structure, or in the composition and structure of international trade on women’s economic role. b. The influence of women’s economic role on economic growth. 
3) The use of fiscal, monetary/financial/exchange rate, and structural policies to address gender inequality and women’s empowerment. a. Fiscal policies and approaches, including gender budgeting. b. Monetary/financial/exchange rate policies that examine the differential effect of interest rate, exchange rate, and inflation policies on women and men and the impact of financial market developments on women’s ability to borrow, save, and invest. c. Structural policies including those that lead to changes in women’s role or ability to participate in the economy. d. Fiscal and monetary policies during periods of austerity or exchange rate adjustment. Papers that do not fit into these topics, but are related to the main theme of the conference, are also welcome......

CALL FOR PAPERS: IMF Gender and Macroeconomics Conference The IMF will hold a gender and macroeconomics conference on March 24, 2017. The conference is intended to provide a forum for discussing innovative empirical and theoretical research on gender and macroeconomics, with specific application to the challenges of low-income developing countries. Empirical and theoretical studies on a wide range of issues related to gender and macroeconomics are welcome. Interested contributors should submit by August 31, 2016 a draft paper or a short proposal (which should reach the draft paper stage by January 2017).
