I could do a call anytime Thursday afternoon or evening.

We need to do some fundraising separate from PorcFest. Organizing that event is stressful enough without having the additional burden of trying to close a financial gap that started somewhere else.

I will reach out to a couple of donors. What do other board members plan to do? Can we set a target goal and work towards that? I'll be asking for $10-20K.

Can we have a board call this week to discuss? Thanks - cg

That forum appears to have very little activity at all. However, I have messaged our social media coordinator about adding posts to the PF section of that forum.

All I am suggesting is that relying on PF tickets to help much in the large deficit is a bad strategy. It will help, yes, but it is not going to make a significant dent, IMO. We will not sell $35,000 worth of tickets to PorcFest in the next 30 days, period. I would be surprised if we meet half of that at this rate. If we do, it will be a miracle. And we will not have any new sponsors coming on board likely, with the exception of Ammo.com with a $1,000 sponsorship in the next few days. If you do not want to see the FSP with a negative account balance, there needs to be some work done outside of PF, where hundreds, if not thousands, of hours have already been expended by our volunteers.

http://forum.freestateproject.org – it’s pretty quiet now, but is constantly getting new members (real ones – often they email if they can’t get their accounts activated)

PF tickets are not a complete solution to the problem, but it’s a good place to start.

Twitter is being used quite a lot for PorcFest promotions as well.

I’m not sure what you’re referring to in regards to an FSP Forum? I had no idea such a thing existed. Is it even being used?

Jess and I don’t have access to the FSP participant email list. That would need to be handled by the ED. I am sure we could write something for that, if needed.

But, there is no doubt that ticket sales will not meet the FSP’s upcoming monetary needs, due in large part to the major financial loss with Liberty Forum and our lost monies in tickets, sponsorships, and crypto losses with PorcFest. Even if we exceeded ticket sales from last year (which will likely not happen), there will still be a serious short fall in the FSP treasury.

My suggestion would be for board members and the ED do some actual fund raising, as is done with non-profits. Maybe task Vince with something fund-raising related, since he actually seems to get some things accomplished. While I am no longer on the board and have no say in such matter, my recommendation to the current board is to deal with this issue NOW and not wait a month when all of our PorcFest related expenses come due.

OK, I do see a few now. The speakers I invited aren’t on there yet, which is why I thought none were. Have we emailed the entire FSP participant + friend list lately? There haven’t been any posts on the FSP forum either, and I haven’t seen anything on Twitter, although that doesn’t mean there hasn’t been. –J

I’m not certain where Jason is looking, but there are several pavilion events on the schedule at PorcFest.com.

We have a full-time volunteer who does promotion, and he is posting several times a week. We also have a volunteer who talks about PorcFest on Reddit. We also have done several podcast interviews. We have also taken advantage of the free promotion through Google ads.

It’s kinda hard to swallow this issue when the board is doing everything in their power to lose money for PF, including pissing away $1500 in crypto gains just to make a point (the difference in crypto prices from the time we accepted the first ForkFest money and the price when we accepted the second ForkFest money for sponsorship) and losing us several paying tickets in the process. Plus, we lost other sponsorships that were much needed due to the board’s unfortunate decision.

Seems to me like the board and the ED needs to start raising funds because we have done all we can to make this happen, despite the handcuffing of the board.

The most straightforward way to get money fast is to sell PF tickets. I just checked, and none of the pavilion events are on www.porcfest.com yet. Let’s crank up promotion! And through media other than Facebook, where fewer and fewer of our people still reside. –J

Just a reminder that this is still a big issue. As mentioned in my thread with Rodger, we're going to need a little over $30,000 of additional revenue from somewhere over the next 30 days, and I don't see how that's going to happen.

Can we do a call sometime in the next few days to discuss this?

I wanted to alert you all about a cash flow situation. I thought we would be able to pay our American Express balance in monthly installments, but it turns out the entire deferred balance of $47,099.22 is due by May 3.

Our current checking account balance is $62,738.55, so if we made the American Express payment now, our remaining checking account balance would be $15,639.33. The crunch time will be when we need to make the big payment to Roger's Campground. Last year, that payment was $48,931.61. And of course there are various other PorcFest related expenses.

So the question is, will we have another ~$35k of PorcFest ticket revenue between now and June? If not, we're in a jam, and we'll need to do some more fundraising.
