For some reason, I am still on this email list. Jason, I assume you will rectify that?
To clarify, since I am still on this list, there is no organization for ForkFest. It is a completely decentralized event. There is nothing that “Ian helps run.” The event wasn’t even started by Ian. It was started by Steven Zeiler and Derrick J. Freeman three years ago, and they run the website for the event, from my understanding. Ian is an attendee of the event, nothing more, and would like to see the event grow since he can’t go to other libertarian camping events in New Hampshire since his initial one-year ban has been held onto indefinitely.
As I responded to your Facebook post a few minutes ago:
The only thing in the official board minutes (since the minutes written by the secretary at the time were suppressed) says:
"On March 4, 2016, the FSP board, at Matt’s request, began deliberating via email and telephone about Ian Freeman, due in part to a petition calling for the FSP to end its sponsorship relationship with Free Talk Live and letters from the FSP community, including core doers, asking the FSP to disassociate from Ian Freeman. On 3/17, the board unanimously recommended to end the “Mutual Sponsorship Agreement” between the FSP and FTL; and following four expressions of support for banning Ian from attending FSP- hosted events, Matt posted the statement."
Please explain where, in that statement, it says anything about ending the sponsorship of Ian Freeman personally or the Shire Free Church. Nothing in this donation was against that posted policy since it was not from FTL (Free Talk Live). If you check the treasurer reports, Ian made a personal donation to the Free State Project to the "Make FSP a Household Name" campaign. That donation was not returned. How was this donation/support any different?

Subject: [FSP Board] Updating Policy re: Ian Freeman
Can someone (presumably Jason or Matt) please clarify the policy regarding Ian Freeman in a way that is publicly accessible by others? Presumably by updating this post.
I've largely refrained from commenting online because it is extremely uncomfortable to state that the existing policy of the organization was to deny the Forkfest donation and have nothing to point to that backs that up.
Additionally, the fact that we're receiving money from ForkFest anyway makes our policy here extremely unclear to me. Is the standard that we're able to receive money from organizations Ian helps run, but only if the money is not directly handed to us by Ian? That seems like a strange standard if so.
