The Digital Platform Group in Columbus is looking for nice, smart, and adaptable people who will help us expand our core platform by developing key services, modular UI components, and integrating capabilities. The key trait is thought leadership through problem solving: This individual must exhibit independent creativity, a curiosity to research new technologies and methodologies, and a pervasive desire to dig into complex technical issues while respecting timelines and team commitments.
The position will entail designing, assembling, integrating and testing software components on a multi-instance AWS cloud platform utilizing the data delivery and orchestration technologies below. This candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and needs to be able to take direction, ask questions and then deliver.
Critical Functions:
- Experience developing well-organized, maintainable, object-oriented, unit-tested code in PHP 7+.
- Experience developing highly scalable and composable RESTful APIs (JSON, API design, HATEOAS, Swagger, Hypermedia, JSON-LD, HAL)
- Experience developing REST applications on modern MVC PHP frameworks such as Laravel 5, Symfony, Lumen or Slim 3
- Experience in Authentication and authorization standards such as SAML, JWT, OAuth, OpenID, OKTA
- Experience with MySQL (relational concepts, SQL, connection pooling. ER diagrams)
- Experience in SDLC of Object Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles, OO design patterns (e.g. SOLID), application architectures, unit, integration, and system testing strategies
- Experience in exceptional problem solving, analytic and diagnostic skills
- Experience in distributed system diagnostic methods, monitoring and instrumentation technologies
- Experience in analyzing business requirements and identifying possible gaps, missing scenarios, etc.
- Knowledge of Angular javascript framework and UX principles
- Knowledge of PHP 7
- Knowledge of caching strategies such as Redis, Couchbase, and how to apply them meet SLA objectives
- Knowledge of storage techniques such as: SimpleDB, DynamoDB, S3, RabbitMQ, SOLR
- Knowledge of: Application Performance Tuning (New Relic or similar APM)
- Knowledge of the layers of connectivity from a service call to the DB, transaction control, isolation level, etc.; review existing code and recommend refactoring where applicable
- Knowledge of these skills will be considered a plus: LTI, Jenkins, Sonar, GIT, HTML5, CSS, Amazon EC2, Docker, Kubernetes, Node.js, Hadoop, Kafka, Kinesis, Spark
- Ability to engineer (design and code) solution in the most clear, concise and optimal way possible based on time and other constraints; coordinate best development approach with Architects, Engineers, Database Developers, and others.
