Shearwater migration

It's happening!

Geoff Holden reports the shearwater migration is very visible from
Merimbula Beach.

If you have never seen this sight go to one of the headlands and look
for the black line of birds as they pass through to breed. Some will
breed on Montague Island but most go to the Bass Strait Islands. Many
will end up on the beaches, deceased from exhaustion after their long
flight from the Northern Hemisphere. This is normal so don't be alarmed.

I am at Tathra today and wondered at the large numbers pass through!!

Thousands of shearwaters flying low over the water off Beares Beach in Bermagui today. A great spectacle along with the whales breaching and tail slapping.
