Gannets in Merimbula bay

It’s that time of year again when we occasionally see large groups of Australasian Gannets offshore from Merimbula.
 
On Monday there was a raft of 400+ sitting on the water.
 
Just now (late Sunday afternoon) there is a raft of 500 + and another of 150+.
 
I may be missing some, as my view is more limited than a few years ago, thanks to tree growth over the recent sequence of wet years.

Wow, I did not know that they gathered in such large numbers.  Will keep an eye out.  Yesterday at the southern end of Tura Beach I saw three hooded plovers - one was a juvenile which seemed to have an injured leg since it was hopping around.
