Hello,
Can you please forward to your sailors
Hi all,
Well done to all FSC sailors and their achievements at their individual state championship events. I am reluctant to name everyone because I know I will miss someone, but I can report that FSC not only where exceptional on the water but conducted them selves well during each regatta.
I have asked the 420 winning team of Lachy Gilmour and Tom Blaauw to send a report, Eddie has kindly sent one through on the optimist states, so just need one for the lasers. Also need a few photos. These reports are much valued, they get published in the Blue Water Bulletin (glossy club magazine sent to all members) and give a much needed profile to the dinghy division.
Training
There has been a small review of the training schedule to coincide with available Ribs, coaches and sailors.
Monday nil coaching or sailing
Tuesday: 420 ( Tessa is happy to make this open to all )
WAIS radials with Russell McGovern
Wednesday: lasers all classes with Russell this week
Thursday: optimist silver and gold with Matt and Sean
Thursday teams racing training may not have a coach. University is playing havoc with the sailing! I will communicate directly with those involved later in the week.
Friday 420 with Tessa
Friday boards with Tim Gourley
Saturday Optimist bronze, silver and gold be ready by 0845. This is with Don, Sean and Mathew respectively. They will need parent help.
Lasers and 420 now begin at 1230 withTim Castles and Tessa. This is so as to avoid fatigued sailors not being able to complete racing in the afternoon.
Lasers beginners are with Will Elks ready to go at 0845
Invitational Race
Invitation to Royal Perth Yacht Club Annex. On Sunday the 1st of April RPYC are using their beautiful annex at bathers beach Freo. We are invited to join them for the sailing. That's all fleets on the Sunday afternoon. If I get enough takers I will organise a rib for additional support ( but no coaching), the advantage is that you can sail your boat there and back, have another great afternoon on the water. RPYC have a thriving more mature age fleet as well as the young guns so if you want to sail rather than watch come on down.
The kind folk at RPYC annex are also cooking us dinner if we give them a heads up on numbers. Their hospitality is always great and their bar is always open.
Club Infrastructure
The bosuns Peter and Paul are working hard in the sheds, and along with Denis and the main club bosuns are making plans for more sail and boat racks. If you have any time pop in and offer you help.
Yacht Grot have kindly supported our club with Buoys, anchors and the necessary hardware to make these work. Please show your appreciation next time you need any boating equipment. It's good to support the people that support us.
Mess dinner is on March 23 rd $80 all inclusive. See FSC website for details. We need to get at least one table of 10 as the proceeds of money raised during the nights entertainment is for dinghy development. It is open to all members ( well their parents if under 18) and any guests you may wish to bring.
Next week we should be able to provide information about the new FSC club T Shirts and the social extravaganza organized by the laser and 420 sailors
Finally you should have received an email about cooking and then dinner afterwards on Thursday 15th March. Just send us a quick confirmation of attendance.
Thank you

Please forward to your sailors
Hi all,
We welcome Luke Elliott to the FSC coaching team. Luke will be concentrating his efforts on the optimist silver group, but will be liaising closely with Mathew in opti gold and the bronze coach to ensure smooth transition. It's great to have him on board. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Whittington for his efforts with this group. Many of our young sailors gained from his tutalage
Saturday's sailing was glorious. The weather was perfect, the wind had enough in it to challenge the morning sailors, we had 15 silver fleet sailors and 14 Gold fleet sailors it was good to see some very competitive starts. In the afternoon we saw calm seas and 3 very good races. Thanks Murray for being the race officer, it was good to see 16 boats on the water for the afternoon racing. See photo of Tessa trying something new.
The sheds are coming along, under the gentle guidance of Peter,Paul and Denis. Just to be clear, the allocating of the boat bays is done through FSC admin with, I believe Steve Darke coordinating this. If you are borrowing someone's space for a short time as they may not be utilizing it, then this is ok, but you cannot simply grab any bay that suits. I have no authority to give out boat bays. The mess from the sailboards is getting out of hand, can board sailors please address this.
On Thursday we had another group cooking session. This was followed by dinner. All those that came had a good time. We introduced nachos to the menu ( thanks for the healthy recipe Leila) and these where we'll enjoyed.
Friday was the final round of the teams racing. Royal Freshwater Bay won with FSC and SoPYC equal second. FSC received the prize for sportsmanship. We also hosted the presentation dinner, thanks to Nicolette Green and Laura Charlwood for their assistance. It was great food and again lots of camaraderie between clubs. I didn't get a photo so if anyone did can you please send it to me.
Also I have had no responses to the RPYC invitational race below, please let me know if you will be joining the RPYC sailors
