Hi Guys,

Can you please forward to your sailors.

Saturday saw 68 sail boats competing in the first 2 heats of the Huck Scott Winter Series, I think it’s fair to say the wind gods were very generous.

A big thank you to all volunteers who where available to assist from Sustenance providers slaving in the galley, to mark inflaters, rib installers, the start team and finally to all those who assisted on the water, we had eleven support boats on the water not including the Campbell’s “Resolution” who provided assistance to Jesse

There were a number of amazing achievements for the morning not the least of which was Eleanor Green and Axel Sleet in their first winter regatta – who after missing the start of the Optimist Silver fleet first race sailed around waiting for the start of the second race in which they came third and fourth consecutively.

Carrie and Ella sailing their 420, excelled in the conditions showing the Flying Fifteen’s that size doesn’t count and a clean pair of heels.

Mark Whittington showed the Musto Skiff sailors that youth and good fortune will overcome wisdom, skill and in Thor’s case a broken rudder box

Anton Albrecht racked up his first win in a regatta

For those wishing to see the results to date please go here: http://www.fsc.com.au/cproot/1715/3/2012%20Huck%20Scott%20Winter%20Series%20Race%201%20%202%20results.pdf

There were a number of sailors who were not appropriately dressed for Winter Conditions – Boardies and a rashie is not enough to maintain core body temperature, can you please ensure all sailors have booties, gloves, thermal pants and tops, beanies etc, as well as warm dry clothes to put on when sailing is finished.

Please forward to your sailors

Howdy all,

What a great week it has been at FSC dinghy. The big event was the dinghy championship dinner, where 119 guests got to celebrate this great season. I have atached the list of our worthy champions. Well done to those that have achieved at this highest level. This season consistancy and competing each race day was the path to success. Well done to every sailing winner, and to our dinghy volounteer of the year Sean Sicree. Thanks to Lynndy,Janet,Nick and Sean for your assistance prior and on the day. This year we aimed for a more informal atmosphere , but respectful of the importance of the occasion. Give me feedback and what you would like for next year.

tshirt back.JPGtsirt front.JPGMr May Arthur Brett in our dinghy T-shirt.

T-shirts are here!!!!!. . The short sleeve version, modeled in the picture by FSC principal coach Arthur are $28 . The long sleeve version will be available soonish and will be $38 (long sleeve are white). How great would it be to wear these at the SOPYC Solo series, or at the next Huck Scott.

They will be available from the canteen on Saturday. Great design Ella. Thanks to Diana Boarzotto-Boggins and Sean Sicree and Tool Time for their support.

Training:

Saturday was a training day of sunshine and beautiful winds, and we welcomed AB back for the week. FSC is always trying to offer options to their sailors and Saturday afternoon, we welcomed the JESS team of 29ers. We look forward to seeing them at the club. Ask the sailors and the team questions if you are interested in this class of boats. We hope they will join us at the next Huck Scott for the racing. AB and Steve Darke also hosted a coach from the kite boarding association to discuss the way forward. A number of sailors and supporters (read financial backers)participated in an informative session. A few sailors will be trying this out over the next few Tuesdays. Steve and I have the information so ask us if you are interested. There are plans to have a demonstration of these at a future Huck Scott.

Its great to go and sail at different clubs and helps forge friendships across sailing.
