Hi everyone.

What a good week of sailing it’s been. The wind has been steady, the swell and waves were kind on Saturday leaving Janet and Gillian almost dry in the rib, and we had success on Friday with teams racing.(thanks Ben and Tom)

There has been some teething hiccups with last  week’s training roster but it’s all sorted. RIBS remain in tight supply and we hope that the blue (ISAF) ribs will return soon. If you are planning on using a RIB and are not one of the coaching sessions outlined below, you will need to let Steven Darke and me know so we can ensure that there are enough for the entire club.

The weekend training and racing was great. We welcome Nia & Lisa and Chris and Jack to the 420 class. They gained much from Tessa Parkinson coaching. The Lasers fleet was top class with the coaching being done by Tim Castles. The optimists continue to go from strength to strength. This week Nick Jerwood coached the gold fleet with Mark and Helen ,Martina coached the silver and bronze. Thanks to our parents that joined in, it looked like you where having as much fun as the kids.

So lets summarize coaching at FSC on the weekend was led by an Olympian, a world champion, a national champion, state champion all of whom have represented their country.

Events (March long weekend)

Optimist  State Championships (bronze, silver and gold) Hillarys Yacht Club 3-5th March. All levels will be catered for

420 State Championships FSC 3 & 4 th March

Laser State Championships (4.7m radial full rig , masters) SOPYC 3-5 March

FSC has invited all 420 members to sail at FSC this weekend, for an invitation race in preparation for  the state championship.

All FSC sailors are encouraged to attend their class state championships.  it’s about participation challenging yourself, and feeling great when you achieve.

The sailing committee had a marathon meeting on Tuesday, I wont go into the details here but the minutes are available for those that wish to see them.

There has been no emptying of the sheds of peoples stuff that should be at home in their garage. Please get on with it.

Can you please talk to your fellow members and check that they are getting emails,  some people report they are not getting this weekly info.

Finally well done to our more senior members who are off sailing at Georgraphe Bay Race week. We look forward to hearing all the stories when they return. (although  have hard that what happens at race week stays at race week)

Cheers

Keith Charlwood

Dinghy Captain
