Howdy all,

Can you please forward weekly roundup to your sailors.

Welcome back. Well done to everyone who competed in world championships, nationals championships and youth events. I started listing you all but there was so many I couldn't keep track. FSC sailors proved themselves at all levels and all members are proud of your achievements I do want to mention Belinda Stowell and Elise Rechichi amazing ISAF achievement and along with all of FSC  dinghy I wish them well for their OLYMPIC campaign

We had a quiet start back into Club Racing this weekend.

A combination of sailors just returning or still competing in national events backed by relatively calm winds.

We had the final day of the school holiday Get into Small Boating course combined with the optimist bronze fleet.

Thank you to Steve, Will, Martina, Helen and Chris for your assistance

We had the optimist silver fleet out on the ocean, a very well done to all.

In the afternoon Will and Pat enjoyed the sailboard conditions whilst Chris and Thor took their Mustos out for a spin, I hear we have four Mustos at FSC now, if anybody has the need for speed and can manage these single handed beasts with trapeze, main, jib and spinnaker, have a chat with AB, Chris, Thor or Paul.

We had two races for the lasers where Colin Dibb showed us why he is the current World Grand Masters champion, closely followed (well not too closely) by Justin and Andy.

I have lots to cover so please take the time to read this and discuss with your sailors.

1. FSC will be hosting the 420 state championships on Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th  if you can volunteer  to assist for this please do so but remember that this weekend also has the Optimist state championships at Hillary's Yacht Club and the Laser state championships at SoPYC

2. Upcoming multi fleet  regattas: HYC Pot of Gold this weekend and RPYC Miniseries 11th & 12th February therefore there is no racing or training on these weeks ( as per the sailing handbook) Everyone should consider going to these regattas for the fun and challenge they provide.

3. Teams racing begins Friday 4th  February . There has been very little interest from our senior juniors ( you know what I mean). Your commitment is only 6 Friday evenings till about 7.00 pm, I will be sending specific emails encouraging those people. Thanks to our younger members who have clearly indicated their wish to be involved and to learn from our more experienced group, also thanks to Luke Parkinson who has volunteered to be coach and Sean Sicree who has volunteered to assist with the managing of the team

4. Open day is on the 12th of March. What this means is that the general public will be invited to come along try sailing and see what we do. More on this next week

5. Coaching changes. I know many of you have heard that  there are some changes occurring with coaching this year. These are still being worked on Don and I will be meeting with Arthur when he gets back on the 1st of February.   Arthur, Don and I invite you all to meeting on the 2nd February at the Dinghy Club House commencing at 730 pm to detail any changes and seek your support to implement a robust coaching system. If you have any specific issues or ideas you want me to raise please drop me an email.

6. Travel grants: these must be prospective and received 2 months in advance. There are forms and a process to this. Steve Darke at sailing admin has this information.

7. The boat sheds are now ours again. Thanks to your patience over ISAF. Space is becoming a problem with many new lasers being bought and new optimist boats arriving. Therefore we can no longer act as an alternative garage, can you please remove all personal items like clothing, bins, sail boards, boats etc that are not used for FSC club racing, also we need compile a list of who owns which boat in the sheds or compound – can you please email myself and Sailing Admin if you have a boat stored at FSC..

8.Safety: we are moving towards the safety guidelines that FSC wishes as a standard. All FSC RIB drivers must be either FSC employees, members or associate members must have a RST and a current first aid certificate. Personnel onboard FSC RIBs must wear life jackets.  If you do not have a first aid certificate and are interested in obtaining one then FSC is running a course on the 1st of February please contact Jill Slawson trai...@fsc.com.au  for further details.

9. The next FSC Dinghy Committee meeting is on the 14th  February (clearly no romantics on this committee). These meetings are not closed meetings, so please come along and be involved. It is not an AGM so voting is limited to committee.

If you got all the way to the bottom in one sitting well done! Looking forward to an enjoyable 2nd part of the season.

Finally would like to wish Tim, Eamon and Pat well for the upcoming RSX Nationals

Keith

Dinghy captain
