Can you please send this to your sailors.

Howdy all,

Congratulations

First let me acknowledge our sailors that are off competing around the world. Patrick Vos, Caitlin Elks, Belinda Stowell, Elise Rechchi, Ella Clarke, Carrie Smith, Lachy Gilham, Ki-Raphael, are all off competing. Over Easter Alistair and Elliott Young, Annabelle Davies, Sarah Kirke, Zac Littlewoods, will all represent Australia at the NZ National Championships. We wish them all fair winds great sailing and lots of fun.(sorry if I forgot anyone, let me know please)

Fremantle sailing club with Mathew Wearn at the helm, were victorious in the 2012 Foundation Cup. Well done to the team of Eamon Robertshaw, Brodie Piano, Alistair Young, Carrie Smith, Mark Whittington, and Tristan Browne.

Up coming events:

Mandurah Easter Regatta is the event to go to ( well if your not flying around the world). This is a great dinghy regatta (lasers boards 420 optimists musto etc), in the sunny waters off Mandurah. This regatta is always well attended, with good social events, and great food in the restaurant. It's an easy drive with the freeway, and boat and rib storage is available. If you are coming consider volunteering. There are many positions available and we are looking for optimist families to help out on the water on the start and finish boat. Go to this web site for NOR, Volunteers form and Entry Form.

Invitational Race SUNDAY 1st April

Invitation to Royal Perth Yacht Club Annex. On Sunday the 1st of April RPYC are using their beautiful annex at bathers beach Freo. We are invited to join them for the sailing. That's all fleets(optimist,lasers,420/470,boards,musto etc) on the Sunday afternoon. If I get enough takers I will organise a rib for additional support ( but no coaching), the advantage is that you can sail your boat there and back, have another great afternoon on the water. RPYC have a thriving more mature age fleet as well as the young guns so if you want to sail rather than watch come on down.

The kind folk at RPYC annex are also cooking us dinner if we give them a heads up on numbers. Their hospitality is always great and their bar is always open.

FSC have invited RPYC to sail on the Saturday as they will have their boats nearby.

Dinner. Do we want a dinner (but not a cookup)on Thursday before Good Friday Easter? Picked this date due to people picking up their boats for Easter, but not fixed on this. Get back to me please, as Gillian needs to orgainise.

Final Twilight Wednesday 28th evening at 1600 followed by BBQ dinner in the outside area main club.

Training.

There are some small changes this week with Russell going away Tess being away and Mathew being away on Saturday.

Training this week:

Monday nil coaching or sailing

Tuesday: 420, TBA

Wednesday: lasers all classes with Tim Castles this week

Thursday: optimist silver and gold with Matt, Luke and Sean

Friday 420 with Tessa

Friday boards with Tim Gourley

Saturday Optimist bronze, silver and gold be ready by 0845. This is with Don, Luke and Nick Jerwood respectively. They will need parent help.

Lasers and 420 now begin at 1230 with Tim Castles and TBA. This is so as to avoid fatigued sailors not being able to complete racing in the afternoon.

Lasers beginners are with Will Elks ready to go at 0845

Thanks

We welcome Ben Walkrmeyer as the laser rep for Freo. Please put all your suggestions for the laser run social event to him.

We also thank Margaret Rear Commodore of Sailing, who not only delivered to dinghy a bag of homemade cakes but stayed to help out too. Thank Margaret.

I would like to thank our band of volunteers Each week they are working hard to make FSC the excellent club it is. If you want to get the most of being in a club you need to get involved. As things get busier your assistance is welcome

There has been some changes to the allocation in the optimist shed. If you wish to comment on this please do so to Steve Darke sailing Administration.

Thank you

Keith Charlwood

Please forward to your sailors

Hi all,

We welcome Luke Elliott to the FSC coaching team. Luke will be concentrating his efforts on the optimist silver group, but will be liaising closely with Mathew in opti gold and the bronze coach to ensure smooth transition. It's great to have him on board. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Whittington for his efforts with this group. Many of our young sailors gained from his tutalage

Saturday's sailing was glorious. The weather was perfect, the wind had enough in it to challenge the morning sailors, we had 15 silver fleet sailors and 14 Gold fleet sailors it was good to see some very competitive starts. In the afternoon we saw calm seas and 3 very good races. Thanks Murray for being the race officer, it was good to see 16 boats on the water for the afternoon racing. See photo of Tessa trying something new.

The sheds are coming along, under the gentle guidance of Peter,Paul and Denis. Just to be clear, the allocating of the boat bays is done through FSC admin with, I believe Steve Darke coordinating this. If you are borrowing someone's space for a short time as they may not be utilizing it, then this is ok, but you cannot simply grab any bay that suits. I have no authority to give out boat bays. The mess from the sailboards is getting out of hand, can board sailors please address this.

On Thursday we had another group cooking session. This was followed by dinner. All those that came had a good time. We introduced nachos to the menu ( thanks for the healthy recipe Leila) and these where we'll enjoyed.

Friday was the final round of the teams racing. Royal Freshwater Bay won with FSC and SoPYC equal second. FSC received the prize for sportsmanship. We also hosted the presentation dinner, thanks to Nicolette Green and Laura Charlwood for their assistance. It was great food and again lots of camaraderie between clubs. I didn't get a photo so if anyone did can you please send it to me.

Also I have had no responses to the RPYC invitational race below, please let me know if you will be joining the RPYC sailors
