Hii all...

Well there is no point in changing the rules. I don't know what the authorities are trying to do ? First they are getting the registration done one year before the event and now they are thinking of changing the rules.

There is one common rule book  which is followed with minor changes subject to a particular event. Now , what we are gonna prove by changing the rule book????

I think we need to discuss among ourselves and then submit a common application in this regard. Well there are lot of teams from our country who have the experience of participating in such events. So , we know how the event looks like.

Moreover , many teams must have started working on the cars ( Including us ). ( well that's a secondary issue.)

PS: These are all my personal suggestion may differ from others. But if any one having any other queries  or option , please discuss.

Cheers

i can still remember the word of mr. claude raulle "if u r planning to make a f1 car bring it in the spirit of f1" if we follow wat dey r suggestng for the new rule book then i think we wont be eligible for the international events. and with 40mm outer dia tube it wont be a fsae car rather a baja vehicle with heavy weight

Hello Fellas.

I think that it is no use discussing this issue amongst yourselves and getting discontented for no reason. I support the decision of letting teams use M800 engines. I think that the organizers should relax the maximum displacement rules for this sake. Look at it this way. 4 years back was the first the first time we participated in FSG. I know how difficult it was to procure the engine. I've been in FSAE for 4 years and I know how bloody difficult it is to maintain these engines. And with the customs rules now stricter than ever, you can purchase those engines at an exorbitantly high price or from the black market. Do the black market stuff is not gonna be allowed by your college and is very difficult to do so unless you have someone experienced in that field whom you trust. We were lucky to have someone like that in our team. Using the M800 eliminates all those issues. The engine is local, mechanics can fix it easily and spares are available. For example, would you like to pay 40$ for the CBR 600 gasket and 88$ more for the transportation. Most of the teams have come up since a year or two. Is there any point having 70-90 HP powering your vehicle when your chassis would just twist like a dry twig or you don't have tires good enough to transmit all that power to the ground or wheel that are simply too heavy to rotate.

Teams already participating in the competition, like IITD, Orion Racing India(Mumbai), will have a tough time dealing with this. If the rule is enforced, they'll have to make 2 cars every season. That is simply not possible or practical. So I guess the best thing you guys could do now is have all teams come to a common ground and request the organizers to relax the maximum displacement rule. Only through your collective participation would there be some solution that both the organizers and the participating teams would be happy with. This would also encourage the more experienced teams to participate and share their experience with you. It is always a good time having more experienced teams compete with you so that you learn from their experience. You sometimes come across things that can only be learnt from interacting with people who've been there, done that.

I hope I could put forth my point in a usefull way.
