OPML SQL Database Access

Hi all,
what is the best way to access MySQL or PostgreSQL from within OPML on Mac OS 10.10 or 10.11?
Does the ODBC Query Tool in system.extension.odbc still work reliably?
Or should I hack up a PHP database interface an pull the data via tcp.httpClient thru Apache?
Is there another solution I might have missed?
My goal is having OPML to store and retrieve a couple of strings from the SQL database holding 200.000+ records (I guess too much for storing it in the ODB :)
